You really do have the loveliest garden, Sandra :)

I always enjoy looking at your garden. Its not easy to get the best out of a fairly small space - you should give lessons! I remember that shot of the Lysimachia next to the lavender from last year - lovely! Do you find it spreads a lot?
Your Penstemon is very like the one in my blog except that its rather paler I thought the names you suggested didn't ring a bell..

It is just lovely Sandra. So pretty. It makes me want to redo my little back garden all over again! But then I suppose mine suits its country situation. Here in Scotland its is cold, very dark grey and just as much like November as it has been all of July and most of June. But we did have summer on Monday and Tuesday! (Sigh). Frankly, I'm yearning for winter. You know what you'll get in winter, it doesn't disappoint! Lol...only joking...we may yet get some sunshine before winter. Theres always hope!

It always looks beautiful Sandra, and this is no exception. It's gorgeous. Love that dark sedum too. Something I keep meaning to get. Torrential rain here at the moment.

Small it may be Sandra, but so beautiful, you have certainly got the best out of a tiny space, lovely....

My goodness, what lovely comments from you all..thank you so much..
M.land ,that is so kind of you,and yes,the circular paving was one of the first things OH laid, when we moved here 15 years ago..so glad he did.:o) you can see the lichens taking over ..at first we thought it was from the birds ! lol..
Thank you Chris,,we love to sit out there whenever it is possible, and we have been so lucky today, just a few drops of rain this morning, and that's been it ! ..sorry,you have had it so bad in Devon today..I saw it on the news..not summery at all !
Thank you Lisam..nice you still have yours to look forward to..you won't have to wait for much longer,I'm sure :o)
Aw,bless you Sheila.that is so kind of you to say so..:o)
Oh ,Stera..me, give lessons ? Lol..it's all been very much trial and error, plus pot luck ..but we get there in the end ,don't we? it's only taken me 15 years to be happy with it as it is,but it's been a lovely learning curve...The Lysimachia does spread, but I find it easy to control..It hasn't much room to spread in the back garden,as it's restrained by paving, but when it starts growing in spring again,I just pull,or dig up the shoots in the wrong place..
I let it do it's own thing to a certain extent in my long front border..it's a good gap filler :o)
Re the Penstemon you mentioned..I think it might be the one on Shirley's comment ,suggesting a name ? I only have one, called 'Blueberry Fudge' which was a gift from Amy :o)
Thank you Karen..we have to grow what we know will adapt or are suited to our conditions..not always what we had planned, but yours is a beautiful garden ,and you should be rightly proud of your achievements in such a relatively short time..not 15 years, like my little patch ! lol..I do feel for you, having this darned awful weather for so long too..I truly wish you an Indian summer ..hang on in there ! :o)
Thank you Callie..that's very nice of you to say so...
Thanks Shirley..I'm pleased you like it..it really doesn't change much though..only different bedding plants each year..:o)
Aw,thank you Cinders..the dark Sedum is called 'Purple Emperor' ..sorry to hear you are having awful weather too...we have been so lucky here, but it was forecast for heavy rain and Thunderstorms too..I'm glad they were wrong again !
Thank you Angela..I really appreciate your comment, along with everyone elses..I admire how you and your OK manage to look after all your lovely plants,as my little bit of heaven is just enough for me..Russell isn't a gardener.but he does look after the front lawn and the edges etc..leaving the best bits for me..just the way I want it ! lol x

Not a weed in sight, no junk in sight, all plants behaving as they should ...
wonderful ! :)

Thank you Hywel..It's an easy garden to keep weed free and tidy..I'm lucky in that if a weed decides to make an appearance ,I can soon spot it in these small borders ! That's one of the advantages of gravel, and hard standing too...less weeding, and bending down ..Lol x

It might be small Bloomer but its very beautiful.

Hello Stroller, and thank you..I hope you are well, and enjoying your lovely garden too....
22 Jul, 2017
I should have mentioned Sandra - the purple sedum you sent me a few years ago is doing very well and I now have two large clumps of it.
22 Jul, 2017
It does always look lovely Sandra, small is beautiful as the saying goes, I haven't posted my garden at all this year but I haven't changed anything so it would only be a repeat of the past years, still here though although still miles behind, lol....Its a silly day here again, did manage a stint outside earlier but back to dull, damp and downright miserable again now, first we get no rain at all and typically the schools break up and then we get too much...
Lovely photo's Sandra...

That's good,Stera,I'm so pleased it's doing so well.It's my favourite Sedum ...

Thank you Sue..mine doesn't change much either,so I wondered whether to post photo's this year too,but thought, why not .:o) We just hope our friends don't get bored with the same old ! Lol
We had a terrible start to the day,but by lunchtime it was beautiful, and warm too.We were so glad, as the Nursery where Alfie goes, was having a Gala day,and our daughter was manning a stall :o) A great turn out so both them and this years chosen charity will benefit quite well..Just hope our Thomas fared ok,as he went camping overnight with his Dad,Uncle and cousins..rather them than me.!! lol x

Sandra it is a real credit to you and every corner looks very pretty and filled with summery colours. Really lovely. You must love it put there.
Your title 'Summer at its best,' made me smile because today at our house it is torrential rain, plant pots have fallen over, a trellis has tumbled down (again!) and the water butt is overflowing.......not quite summer at its best down our way!!!
