At last the wasteland which I called garden is disappearing…..what a change! These are all plants which give beauty for a long time for very little effort…my type of plants:-)

Thalia, my favourite daff. I planted quite a lot of bulbs in plastic pots hoping to dig holes in the borders and pop them in when in flower. Unfortunately, the best laid plans etc, I lost just about all of them. They ended up as a mush. Another lesson learned.

This is a beautiful tulip which I saw first at the lovely Four Seasons garden in Walsall. I think it’s called blushing beauty…and it certainly is. Fortunately I planted some of these in the border. It’s the longest flowering tulip I’ve had, I love it.

The lovely dicentra goldheart. This has to be one of the best. It’s sculptural, has beautiful golden leaves and loads of long lasting flowers.

This pic shows two brunneras, jack frost and looking glass. Jack frost is by far the most vigorous, but looking glass has the showier leaves. Heuchera berry smoothie is looking good now it’s maturing. I was a little disappointed with its colour last year…but look at it now! H. Georgia peach is coming back after having all its roots eaten in its pot by the dreaded vine weevil grub. I planted what was left rather deeply, more in hope than expectation, what an amazingly tough plant it is. I think it’s one of the best, it must have the largest leaves of all my heucheras and what a glorious colour too. Further left is my fav heucherella, sweet tea. Nearer the front is a dividion taken a few weeks ago from dicentra goldheart which is next to corydalis blue dragon which spreads quite far during summer. Nearly forgot, h. cascade dawn in front.

Here the lovely water avens surounded by forget-me-nots as is most of my garden I’m happy to say.

Philaris feesey also surrounded by forget-me -nots. I don’t know why people don’t like them, they’re so easy to pullout if not wanted.

Here both sides of my path are lined with it.

Viburnum summer snowflake full of bud, another lovely long flowering plant which I love.

I’ll finish now as it takes me ages to do a blog and I don’t want to bore you. Isn’t it brilliant all this summer weather? It’s a wonder we have time for anything other than gardening:-))

Your Tulip is beautiful, such soft warm colours, and as for the rest of your borders they are truly showing off all the beauty of spring.
Like you my garden is full of forget-me-nots which I luv until they start to go mildewy.

Thanks Stroller, my garden would be pretty bare without them at the moment. It will probably take a few years to look ok after the makeover. I think it was you who had the lovely rose Mortimer Sackler which I bought from David Austin last winter and can't wait to see it in flower. If it wasn't you, just ignore the last comment lol:-)

Hi Julien, thanks, nice to hear from you again:-)

\0/ hello Pam, no storm here yet nor any rain so I have to keep watering pots and occasionally borders, especially newly planted pretties. It is cooler and overcast though so I'll have to bring babies in I think. I'll just check forecast for tonight. The setting sun has just escaped clouds and shone brilliantly through the window to blind me, a bit late lol:-)

you're not boring me, i loved your plants and your garden; normally those tulips wouldnt be a colour i would choose but i loved those ~ the light coming through them makes them look very special.

Lovely planting BA, I love forget me nots too but only when in flower. I've had nearly all my daffs planted in pots for several years now. I sink them in the ground when in flower then put them in a sheltered place for the rest of the year. They've fared much better than the few that are in the ground, maybe your soil is heavier than mine. Bone dry here too :o((

My kind of garden, Ba, The Forget-me-nots give a lovely blue haze in the borders and I'd hate to be without them in the Spring. Gorgeous Heuchera varieties and such a lovely Dicentra. Boring? Not at all! : o ))

love forget me nots - wouldnt be without them.
Your Heucheras are lovely. Mine have come into flower and lost the lovely colour. Next year I'm going to cut the flowers off and see if that helps!

\0/ Hi Sticki, do you mean the corydalis blue dragon? It flowers for ages too. It was one I bought from Vicky (plantagogo) thanks for your kind comments:-)

Thanks Cristina, at my old garden I buried a special little dog called Beanie, and the next year forget- me- nots grew there. It was the first time they had come to the garden:-)

Thanks Lily, I haven't bothered much with bulbs really and pushed the boat out this year ordering from DeJager. I think they got too wet and rotted in the pots, such a shame. Must buy some gravel:-(

To the left of the dicentra goldheart as you look at it? corydalis blue dragon Sticki:-)

24 Apr, 2011

\0/ yoohoo shirley, thanks, it's so exciting after the awful winter...always seems like a miracle:-)

Hi Sarah, thanks. Which heucheras do you have? Mine don't seem to lose their colour after flowering although they all seem to change a little through the year as they mature. You should have a 'word' with Vicky as she's the expert, maybe she can advise. I wouldn't like to lose the flowers, I've only started to appreciate them recently lol:-)

Gorgeous blog and picts, Ba! So lovely to see how your newly designed garden is coming into its own...It is still so early in the year, yet the warm sunshine is bringing everything on so much...
I saw and loved that Dicentra too..it has the most amazing coloured leaves...I am sooooo tempted! There you go leading me astray again!\0/...lolx

25 Apr, 2011

Doesn't take much does it Flori? I've had this dicentra for years and it never lets me down....buy one lol:-)

What a lovely spring garden, Spring wouldnt be spring without the pretty Forget me nots, the Tulips are a wonderful soft pastel I much prefer them to the bolder brighter colours and your border with the Heruchers and Dicentra is magic, I for one wouldnt want to be anywhere but the garden on these balmy sunny days we are enjoying, thanks for sharing;0))

Thanks Pp, I agree, I think we all try to make our own little bit of heaven, and sometimes, bathed in sun, we feel we're almost there:-)) A lot cooler here today, a little wind and overcast:-(
