Confirmation of Spring

Spring is offically here, at least in our house. Last night the stove decided not to stay in, so be it. It has been a super day today and I have enjoyed my new summer work uniform, shorts and ‘t’ shirt.
The stove would have been allowed to go out tomorrow anyway as we are off for a long weekend at the Edinburgh alpine show. I know that a number of you live not so far away; the show is at Fairmilehead Parish Church Hall on Staurday and opens to the public at 12 noon. There is also an extensive plant sales area with six specialist nurseries and the excellent club stall. Plant sales open at 10.30. If you manage to come I will be in the foyer selling books, please introduce yourself to me.
This is now very much tulip time in the garden and here is a small selection. I will post them in my photo section with names next week when I get some time.

Lovely photos! I tried growing tulips a couple of years ago but they don't seem to like this mountain, so I just gawp at the ones I see down in the valley.

We're home again, just. We had a great W/E staying with friends. The show was wonderful with some great plants on the bench and we met many friends from around the country. Plants sales were amazing and we succumed to a 'few' purchases.
One feature of our shows, I don't know if this applies south of hte border, is a members 50/50 stall. The members donate plants which are sold at a reasonable price and then then the member gets 50% of the price and the club keeps 50% which goes to help the club finances. At Edinburgh the club made £1,000 from the stall therefore the donors must have taken the same away with them. The sales hall was packed and by lunch time many of the trade stands were looking pretty empty. From my stance in the foyer I saw some pretty packages of plants leaving the building.

David, there is a similar show this Saturday, 18th, in Perth - The sports centre by North Inch. The club sales table is not as good as Edinburgh but there are about six nurseries present including Aberconway as well as our Scottish ones.
