Strange and impossible things can happen Cinderella. Why? I don't know. It can be anything. You may even take your holidays in Scotland next year and meet them there!!
Let me mention an impossible thing which happened to me many years ago but not as pleasant as yours.
I was riding my motorbike and collided with a car. It wasn't my fault. The bike suffered serious damages and I suffered no scratch. It was January the 5th. The following year I was riding my motorbike and collided with another car. It wasn't my fault. My motorbike suffered serious damages and I suffered no scratch. It was January the 5th. The third year I used my car instead and left my motorbike outside my house. When I returned home I found my motor bike destroyed by a car. It was January the 5th. Never touched the motorbike again. Pure coincidence? I am asking the same question as you.

Thank you San, I guess years ago when there was large families, it was inevitable that they didnt keep in touch, but they didnt move far really, and so many families are connected, and you realise this when you do the family tree.

my neighb our is doing her ansestery, not sure its spelt that way haha, anyway she has gone away for a couple of days to chase something up, apparently records only date back to about 1640`s then it gets harder to figure things out,glad you found eachother and with no effort :o))

Wow. That has to be more than a coincidence. Lovely thing to happen though. Do they call that serendipity? As for your story, Costas, that's weird and spooky. Certain dates do seem to hold significance for people. Agree with Sheilar; stay home next Jan 5th. Although, 3 being a 'magic' number, the cycle or whatever may be complete.I certainly hope so. Talking of which, one of the cats(Mojo) has just run 3 times across my keyboard and twice typed the exact same load of nonsense. The other time he typed nothing. Maybe he ran out of insPAWration! Not very funny but couldn't resist.

That is amazing,Cinders..how lovely for you both..you would have so much to talk about..I bet it put the icing on the cake for you,on your holiday..and lots more to get to know on your family tree.:o).My cousin is doing our side of the family,andjust wondering where it will all end though,as its fascinating..,but I am getting a bit lost with it all..he does the research,and passes it on to me via e-mail..our parents were from a very large family to start with,so it has spread out a lot !

Cinders, that is an amazing story! I'm glad you met up with your relative....now you'll be able to get your family tree updated, but that truly is an amazing 'meant to be' story! I wonder if in time you will come to realise an even deeper and more amazing reason that the two of you were brought together.

On holiday in Florida some years ago...in the middle of the 'Magic Kingdom', waiting in the queue for 'Buzz Lightyear' ride, I hear my name called and turned to see a really good friend from College. Hadn't had any contact in about 10 years. So, that couldn't be a coincidence...no way! Think of the size of the parks in Florida let alone the chances of being there on the same day! We kept in touch and in time it became clear 'why' it had happened. Very sadly, my friend had bowel cancer and died a few years later at the age of 39. But we were able to meet up again and meet one another's children....it was a special blessing. That friend had been extremely 'fond' of me at College and I hadn't kept in touch. I believe there is a purpose to these meetings...they are a blessing, so don't miss the opportunity to find out the reason!

I did my tree about five years ago and havent touched it since, it got so confusing, as I was doing my mothers side and my fathers side, and there ended up with one of my distant cousins on mums side having married his second wife, who was related to my dads side !! Hope you can understand that, but I couldnt get any more information without doing a bit of travelling.

Yes Karen, I do believe there is a reason for it, and we are already exchanging information. Your experience was amazing too, these episodes I really do feel are sent for a purpose, and it certainly brightens life.

How fascinating! Love stories like that. I too think there is a reason that will be reviled soon enough. It must have made your holiday.

As for Costa's story! Wow! Arent you lucky to have gotten out without a scratch. Glad you remembered the date and took the car on the third Jan 5 Th. Must have been the bikes Karma and not yours.

My mom had a big thing about Jan 6th. It being little Christmas and she would never allow the Christmas decoration to come down before Jan. 6th. She said it was bad luck.
We were always the ones to take them down when I lived at home. Can you imagine the shock I had the day of her funeral when I realized it was Jan 6 Th.!!!!!!!
There is a whole lot more to these things than meets the eye.

I'd forgotten about this but: at school, my sister and I both had best friends called Catherine (born inAugust) with sisters called Helen. My sister and her Catherine had a friend, Bernadette; my Catherine and I also. Both Bernadettes have birthdays on Boxing Day. Both the Catherines married Tonys and both the Helens married Davids. My sister and I both married men with Mc... surnames. Odd, isn't it?

Having read through all the comments to this blog, Cinders, I am convinced that Fate exists ... though I am not a religious person at all it is uncanny how events occur. Many years ago, Michael was in the USA on business with some colleagues, they all went to a restaurant in the evening, a voice called his name from the galleried seating above and it was a friend from home he had not seen in about 8 years! He was having his last holiday in the States ... passed away a year later ... very, very strange .. :o))
