Late flowers

Here are just a few pictures, taken this morning on my rounds. Still quite a bit of colour, hopefully for a little longer.
Fancy antirrhinum
Pink Hibiscus
This was a rescued orchid, proving it was worth £3.

Thanks stera, pic 2 is a double osteospermum Violet Ice, bought it last year, took cuttings and brought them indoors over winter. Must remember to do that again, would hate to lose it.
The orchid has been lovely, and has a slightly spicy perfume to it. The name on ticket is Odontoglossum !
Thanks Sb.

Great to have a bit of colour late on in the year.

Thank you Linda and 3D.

Your very welcome Cinders ☺

Nice to see your colourful plants. Summer obviously isn't quite over yet. I'm glad you had some blue sky too :)

Well impressed with your late summer colour

Thanks Hywel. Nearly as much colour as in your garden !
Thank you Brian. So pleased you approve !

Thanks but you've got just as much if not more ... :D

Lovely to see petunias still looking pretty - the snails went for ours a few weeks ago!
The orchid looks beautiful and the pot that it is in is just perfect.
Lovely colours still in your garden.

Wow, you've done a great job with that lovely Orchid Cinders! I do love those Osteospermums. I bought some of the hardy ones this summer and they are just starting to flower now. So pretty. Great colours and a lovely blue sky too! Must say, this is one of the best times in my garden for colour, but my chrysanthemums are nowhere near opening yet! :)

Thanks Wildrose, yes the petunias are still flowering well so I shall leave them as long as possible for the colour, but starting to look tatty close up. The orchid I am very pleased with.
Karen that orchid has done really well hasn't it. The chrysanthemum didn't do well last year as they were rescued late in season, but took cuttings and they are doing well now. I love them, they last a good time, and remind me of my dear old dad who used to spend hours on his. The osteospermums are a good buy too. This one was a new introduction last year called Violet ice.

I shall look out for Violet Ice, thanks Cinders. This is pretty much my first attempt with Chrysanths. Just trying to keep some colour going right into the autumn. It makes the winter seem a bit shorter when you have flowers doesn't it!

Certainly does karen

| love your plants, Cinders! What is the name of the beautiful rose in your first photo?
7 Sep, 2017
Thank you Balcony, the first rose is Penny Lane, the second is Gertrude Jekyll.

Pretty pretty pretty and I love your orchid bargain! :)
8 Sep, 2017
Yes, I wanted to know the name of the rose in the first image. Really pretty!
The Orchid is splendid but I have a love-hate relationship with orchids. Love them when they bloom; hate them when they clutter up surfaces and fall over, messing up the place.
Karen: You mentioned growing Chrysanthemums. Ever grown a green one? Other Half did in the early 60's. They were beautiful. Haven't seen one since.

Thanks Pamelaanne.
Oh dear Eirlys, I put my orchids in the spare room when not flowering, if you give them support they shouldn't fall over.

Osteo's flower for ages, don't they, & help keep the winter at bay.
Love your orchid! I kept my little collection going for years but this year they all failed on me, so disappointing.

Oh that's a shame green finger, I have had some of mine a few years, but a couple of them gave up this year. One I have had for 18 years that my husband bought just before he died I have managed to keep, and successfully divided, so now have three of that one. So pleased, as I am a bit sentimental about that one.
Osteo's, yes they keep going and going don't they.

You must have the magic touch.

What a lovely display,Cinders..I too love all your plants, and your Begonias are still looking lovely too..Let's hope our gardens continue giving us pleasure for a good while yet..I think some of mine are at their best just now..despite the heavy showers we keep having...Love the Orchid :o) x
10 Sep, 2017
Thank you Sandra, but I have taken my petunias out today as they weren't looking very good at all. Also my sweet peas I've pulled out. Begonias are still ok, just, but still have a lot of colour from lavatera, chrysanthemum and geraniums, and roses are budding up again too, so it's not over yet !

Eirlys...I did have a green one, but it didnt flower. I dont think I shall grow them next year. The weather totally wrecked them.
16 Nov, 2017
Ours were grown in the greenhouse, Karen, and did really well. Spectacular bloom.
17 Nov, 2017
Eirlys, I had planned to keep mine in the greenhouse, but it got too crowded. Now I think that would be the way to do it.
