Rosemoor Gardens 'Then and Now'

By request I am doing this blog, Shirley tulip was interested in seeing pictures of Rosemoor soon after it was started. I am not sure which year it was first laid out, but I think my pictures were taken around 1987. I will start with pictures of the entrance, as you go down the steps.

Note how small the fir trees were then, and what they are like now, hiding the gardens they have grown so much.

The above was the lake before it was planted up, and now a couple taken a few weeks ago.

The last two are not of the same place but gives an idea of how much things have changed. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures.

Many thanks for this blog, Cinders ... it has been interesting to view your photos from the past ... great to see how the conifer hedge has become established now. According to the Rosemoor website, the gardens were given to the RHS in 1988, a new visitor centre was built in 1989 and the opening day was June 1st 1990.
We have visited three or four times over the past 10 years and never fail to come away feeling it was a totally worthwhile visit. Blog is now on to my favourites ... many thanks ... :o)))

Very interesting ... I shal look through my photo albums over the weekend for Rosemoorpics ... possibly enlist the help of daughter to scan them ... we don't own a scanner (yet!) ... :o)
