Not been on here for awhile, but every so often i find myself repeating things, but on saying that when i’m not on GOY i start to miss everyone, but this last 2-3 weeks i’ve been busy changing my ponds, some of you will know i had 2 small ponds with some railway sleepers in the middle of them so they looked like one, i had my fish in the biggest one and left the smaller with just plants in hoping i would get some wildlife in it and the fish wouldnot eat them, but one day i was sat in the garden and decided to dig the small area in between to 2 ponds and make one big one, little did i realise just how much digging i had to do although it was approx 3ft in between the ponds and i only went about 24-30ins across by 20in deep it took me days to do think if a fellow had done it they would have done it in 2-3hrs, i was falling out with myself putting a new liner in, but after that it was quite easy to do, its not quite finished yet but when it is i’ll take a photo and show you, i’ve now got the fish back in it now and they are going mad swimming from one end to the other as its now 14ft long and the the widest part is 4ft, the only help i’ve had up to yet is cutting the railway sleepers down as i still need a bridge to get over the pond. Blimey think i’ve gone on abit, so i’ll shut up.

To be honest every day i was shattered, i was only digging a few buckets aday, but even that took alday to do, and every day when it got to about 3-30pm i was packing in having a shower going on my home medics to massage my back and by about 7-8pm i was falling asleep but at same time i'm pleased with it, infact i'm glad its rained all yesterday and today as i can rest as not sure what ache the most my back or my knees, plus the rain is watering the plants i dug out and kept in a bucket of water, as they look like i feel :))

Up to any more mischie f . . . .

Hi Shirley, tell me about being hard work, i was thinking about getting another couple of fish as there's plenty of room for them but thought i'd let these enjoy the space for awhile, when it stops raining it should take me about a week to finish the bits of but its all easy things to do now, Tilly and Jack are fine Tilly still getting into mischief :))

Like you say its nature, but it does not make it feel any better does it, while i was sorting the ponds out there was a frog in the one with the fish in it, then Friday Tilly caught a frog dont know if it was the same one but it was really crying out loud, i managed to get it of her and chased it into the pond :(

Wow Clarice, well done you, a girl after my own heart, you sure got stuck in and it sounds smashing, even if it was hard you have the satisfaction of knowing its all your own work and now you get the best bit, replanting and admiring. I regularly have to chase my frogs back to safety, its all good fun..
Looking forward to seeing Photo`s of your pond, hope the aches have eased off now....

Hi girls, thanks i am so pleased with myself even though my back and knees are killing me, next door to me was going to take the soil i dug out this weekend but its rained that hard its still here,i put all the soil i dug out into one of the ponds i took out, but its sat on my lawn, so got a feeling that when they take the soil, i'll be having to sort the grass out as i can imagine it being yellow. think the fish think its there birthday and xmas all come together :o))

You've sure done a back-breaking job and are to be commended for your stick-to-it-attitude :) Sorry you are all achy now...maybe having all this rain arrive is just what you needed to rest your weary bones.
I'll look forward to seeing photos of your pond when you've finished sorting it....it's a nice large pond for your fish to practice lengths! lol

Don't fret over the yellow grass Carol ... it'll soon green up ... we had a skip on a lawn for a fortnight once ... grass recovered quickly though. : o ))

No Carol I think it would take a bloke longer with his brakes of cuppa s lol not joking either seems you ve done well I am looking forward to seeing the end result don't over do it and make your self ill as that is easy to do with heavy work.
17 Jul, 2011
I'm a 'fellow' but I would take ages to dig out a pond lol actually I don't think I'd manage it at all these days. I'm glad you got it done eventually. Nice to hear your fishes are enjoying it :o)

So nice to hear from you again, Clarice, I wondered what you were up to! Now I know - good for you getting stuck in and doing a hard job yourself. I bet you feel very satisfied now, I know I would. Your fish must think they're in training for the olympics next year in a pond that size :)
18 Jul, 2011
wow carol it sounds huge, hard work isnt it digging it out and laying the liner, no pics :o( can we see how its coming along, cant wait ;o))

Hi Jacque nice to hear from you hope your keeping well, Sandra if it was'nt for the rain it perhaps would have been done, on second thoughts may not, think the rain came in time for me this time as its given me time to rest my weary bones, Sandra its not alot different from before, except now the fish can swim right under the railway sleepers, hoping this rain pecks the plants up i put back in, as they look a bit sorry for themselves, if not i'll have to go get some more. Gee i feel so proud i managed to do it myself, but my bones think different, 6d it did take me nearly 3wks to dig it out and still not finished. :o))
