Last year i wrote a blog about my standard rose that i’d had for about 25-26yrs, it was on its last legs, but Mike told me to give it some epson salt, all though it did’nt do any good last year, i for some reason thought at back end of last year i’d leave it till spring and if know differant then i’d throw it, but against all the odds against it, it as come on brill its about a month later at flowering,as its usually full of blooms at this time but just look at it
one lovely rose and also loads of buds Thanks a million Mikec- 29 Jun, 2009

Did you dilute some Epsom Salts in water?
How much ?
How often did you water the rose with the treatment ?
so many questions...Lol.

Put about a desert spoon in a watering can, also put about half teaspoon in spray bottle and sprayed the leaves, did it quite a few times last year, then when i sore it picking up this year i did it every month since march, usually i get about 12 or so roses out at one go, but i'm so pleased with it.

I've never heard of the epsom salt treatment before but so glad it worked for your elderly rose. I think I've heard that banana skins are good for rose growth so I've been putting them down at the base of my roses. Have I imagined this or is there some truth in it?

I do it aswell :o)
I think they're full of potassium and that's supposed to be good for the roses.

Fantastic Clarice. I've read somewhere that a handfull in the bath is beneficial, so if it can perk up the rose so well who knows what it might do for me.

I'm glad the epsom salts worked. I'll have to remember that one Clarice. The rose is a beautiful colour.
