Thought as Sandra had shown you one of the quite villages around Blackpool, thought i’d show you the part where i live, well about 10min walk.
These are the sandhills afew months ago someone had one flattened as it spoilt his view from his bungalow, as far as i know he had to make sure it was all put back right as there are lots of wild life, and also the erea would flood.
Sea defence walls
South Prom
Horse & carraiges that go up & down the prom.
Blackpool tram on the prom
Pleasure beach, suppose to be one of the biggest amusment parks in europe.
The famous Blackpool tower, the house i lived in before this one i could see the tower from my bedroom window.
and sorry i could not get the real donkey’s photo for you, i forgot its friday and donkey’s are not aload to work on friday, as its their rest day, so did the next best and took them on a postcard for you.

Thanks Lilly, last time i went on big dipper was many moons ago, when you live here the pleasure beach is a no go erea to expensive, believe it or not (i'm a sandgronner thats what they call you if your born & bred here), & the first time i went up the tower i was 58, its funny when you live here you forget about the tourist side of it, infact looking at these photos i'm quite proud of living here, there's lots more to see these where taken from south looking towards central pier, but there's a big zoo, a big park & we have are own airport.

Yes they get 1hr off for there dinner, they also have carrots for lunch, their main meal is probin mixed with sugar beat, and also plenty of hay,in winter they go on holiday in the country, where they can be in fields.

Lovely Carol :o) to think you only live a short walk from those beautiful dunes. I loved the donkeys.
10 Jul, 2009
I know should make more effort and go down, the big park we have is only about the same distant, and dont go there very often, as for the zoo dont think i've been there for over 10yrs, just think when your local you dont think of going where the visitors go.
10 Jul, 2009
i do go to the park carol, there`s a nice walkway from staining to dever`e hotel past the mere, may go when we get some nice weather lol
10 Jul, 2009
Going to say i only have to walk across preston new rd, down to old preston rd and i'm almost there.
10 Jul, 2009
quite a walk carol,
10 Jul, 2009
Not really, use to do it in about 10-15 mins so i'd say now about 30mins, old i get slower i walk, but i do like to walk,
10 Jul, 2009
Sorry to say I,ve only been once and that was 41 yrs ago,I was carrying our first child,it was october absolutely atrocious weather all weekend ,so our tour bus took us around the lights on the coach, was advised not to go up the tower cos of my condition, not a good memory but not Blackpools fault,I,ll have to give it another go but not on a Friday.....My next door neighbour is there now absolutely loves it and visits most years..........
10 Jul, 2009
You wont know the place its, all being done up and changed, its always bad weather when the lights are on.
10 Jul, 2009
Takes me back too Clarice. I haven't been to Blackpool for at least 50 years. For me too it was a first teenage holiday, but we did have someone's mum with us. Stayed in a boarding house near the sea and the lovely owner was happy for 5 girls to soak petticoats in a bath full of water and sugar so they would be ready for us to dance until midnight at the Tower Ballroom. I still have the black and white photographs somewhere.
Thank you for the tour.
10 Jul, 2009
It looks lovely Clarice. With such diverse scenery so close by!
10 Jul, 2009
When you live somewhere it isn't like being on holiday. You just get on with your life and don't notice the beauty around you. I live very close to the National Botanic Garden of Wales but I've never been there. There are other tourist attractions all about here aswell but I never get time to visit them. That's every day life I suppose.
11 Jul, 2009
It's always the same, you never do the things on your doorstep. Windsor Castle is near me but I've never been there except when I was 8 and then I lived in Essex!! I only saw and went on the London Eye last year and that's not too far away. Didn't like it much so I'll give the Blackpool Tower a miss if we are ever up that way. Sounds like we were all pregnant when we went to Blackpool! Years ago I went on the Log Flume when I was 6 months pregnant with twins, although I didn't know there were 2 at the time! Is it still there Clarice?
11 Jul, 2009
i have twins...Lily
jack and lilly now seventeen....
i didn't go to blackpool when i was pregnant though...lol
11 Jul, 2009
lily ive been to windsor castle as my brother lives in bracknell, so took my son joe and we did the castle and legoland was great fun, the victorian dolls house was what i wanted to see and wasnt dissapointed either, its a lovely area to visit, and the log flume still here lily,
11 Jul, 2009
Sandra i think the log flume when last year,Ginellie have to admit when i was young,(thats a long time ago) i went in the tower ballroom every saturday night, but never went to top, when you do get to top there's a glass floor to walk on. when you do get to the top the view is fantastic.
11 Jul, 2009
really carol didnt know that, i use to love going on that,
11 Jul, 2009
Can remember someone telling me, saying it was last year, it could have been year before, time goes so quick, mind you i think you have to pay £20 to just walk through it know, think most amusment park do it now dont they.
11 Jul, 2009
yes think so carol. dont think its fare as i like to look but dont go on rides, another way of making quick money i guess
11 Jul, 2009
My twin 'babies' are now 34 Sandra and have their own babies but no twins .....yet!
Legoland, that's another place I haven't been to Sanbaz. We used to live in Bracknell but now live just outside in Crowthorne. Bracknell gets criticised a lot for it's New Town architecture but there are lots of lovely green spaces and the Council go to a lot of efffort to make it look nice. What part does your brother live in?
I expect the log flume wasn't thrilling enough for modern kids. I liked it because it was gentle compared to the big dipper.
11 Jul, 2009
lily he lives in great hollands, they would like something a bit bigger now but the prices are to much for them to be able to, even though they work, but they have a lovely house and are not unhappy where they are,
11 Jul, 2009
Lovely blog and photos Clarice. Many years since visited Blackpool, and then it was to see the illuminations !
11 Jul, 2009

11 Jul, 2009

11 Jul, 2009
Talking rain its started raining awhile ago.
11 Jul, 2009
Same here Clarice, but not very heavy and much needed at moment ! Saves getting the hose out!
11 Jul, 2009
Same here, it is needed everything really dry, been lovely alday though, so it may be nice again tomorrow, could cope with this nice in day & rain through the night.
11 Jul, 2009
I once had a great holiday in Blackpool when my children were small...thanks for the memories...:>)
12 Jul, 2009
Have to admit when the illuminations are on and it rains they look even better,as they reflect on the wet road.
12 Jul, 2009
Takes me back to the one time I was in Blackpool for any decent length of time. Was attending a 2-day works conference (boring), so me and a mate pretended to be feeling unwell, then slipped out to ride the Pepsi Max rollercoaster. Afterwards, we felt a bit unwell, for real, Lol! Many Thanks for this, Clarice! :-)
12 Jul, 2009
Your welcome David, got more gutts than me, to go on that.
13 Jul, 2009

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Clarice, it's many years since I went to Blackpool. When was the last time you went on that Big Dipper!! Looks like you've got the hang of that camera now, great photos. Never mind about the missing donkeys, they deserve a day off especially when it's hot like last week.
