Thought it would be an appropriate day to show some photos of caterpillar in the garden today. I believe they are Sycamore Moth caterpillar.
Fascinating, aren’t they. :-)

It is beautiful Dawn ,it reminded me of those colourful fly things they use for fishing ,not that I know anything about fishing thats why I don't know what they are called :o))

It doesn't look real does it, so pretty though, reminded me of a scene from a Disney movie, Burl Ives singing the Ugly Bug Ball, can't remember the film it was in but can picture him singing the song, lol...

Ive never seen ones like this before either. I couldnt believe my eyes, there were about 5 of them. They remind me of pipe cleaners or feather dusters. Kathy, the moth is very boring.

Seeing as you are likening it to household things,Dawn.I thought it looked like the brush I have for getting down the back of Radiators...minus the dust ! Lol x.

Lol Bloomer, I know exactly what you mean!

Amy, I know what they are called and the reason is because I tie them. You were right on, they are called fishing flies and they are fished with a fly rod.

Not that I use it often ! ..I'm sure they must be about due ,give a year or two :o)

Thank you Loosestrife I have noticed the flies in the fishing mens boxes on the river banks complete with boxes of wiggly maggots I've also watched the men put the maggots in their mouths before tying / hooking them on their rods Yuk ! Sandra Brushes for radiators what are they Lol ..

Fascinating ... much prettier than plain green ones!

That's a really pretty caterpillar.
My father and uncles were keen fishermen, Loosestrife2. When they weren't looking I used to borrow a fly and pin it to my lapel. Then came the palaver of trying to get it unhooked before my family caught on to what I was doing!
Older Son is carrying on the tradition. (Tying, not decorating lapels!)
