Merriments

Visited Merriments garden on the Kent/East Sussex border again yesterday and took the camera.
It is a lovely garden of perennials, flowering shrubs wild flowers and bird/insects. It is great to see how perriennials/shrubs can look and then go and buy them. It was an overcast day so some pics are darker than usual. Sadly the cafe has become a licenced restaurant, where even though it was virtually empty one has to wait to be seated so we went elsewhere as its not what we want when visiting what is infact a gardencentre with a garden attached.

That's what caught my eye too! Aren't they impressive in those corner beds! Those angled poles made an interesting accent over the path too. It looks as though there's lots of unusual ways of putting the garden together there.

Yes there are Bea - this spring I bought 2 Obilisks after my visit there last year. They grow them round and round so they are very dense and flower profusely so I am giving it a go on one of them.

Not a familiar name, Denise, which surprised me a bit! Glad you introduced us to it, though. I'll have to google it to see where it is...I'm curious now!

Looks a lovely garden Denise....a real "browsing" garden....pity about the cafe...Our local GC did the same thing....But I noticed when I went today that there was a sign saying just to go and sit down!!...they must have had queuing problems....

Its Between Hawkhurst in Kent and Hurst Green in East Sussex just off the A21 Spritz.

Funny - we know Hawkhurst very well, Denise - and the A21. Ah well - too late now!

Forgot to say its on the A229 about 400 yards after you leave the A21. It was only created in the 1990's.

That was a nice place to visit. Thanks for the pics. I think it's good to see the plants growing in the ground before you buy them.

It sounds so strange now when you remind me of the road numbers! They're all so familiar...It must have been there before when we moved here, though - we've been in Somerset for 6 years now.

The old primary school on the green in Hawkhurst is housing now.

SIGH....I suppose change has to happen...our old house looks so different now, and a house has been built on the woodland alongside it. Bye-bye bluebells. :-(((
