I was able to get half a doz. Hydrangeas cuttings. I have trimmed them like I would do a fuschia only on abigger scale. I hope this is the right way The main problem is I don’t know if they needto be in the propergater or left on the shelf. It has gone colder now I would like to ‘is the technical word strike them’ get them rooted. you’ll never guess what ! My cousin has given me half as many pots and trays again ,I’m never goig to run out.By the way a couple of weeks ago Iwent on the lookout for pots.I did get some reasonable bargains. But the best bargain of all of the pots I brought was at wilkinsons. Most stores were between £1:48 to £1:98 for 10 3in pots and the same range of prices for 5 5in pots. Wilkinsons were 65p for 10 3in reduced to half that ammount (33p). and 16p for 1 5in pot reduced to half ( 8p) So on impulse I just cleared the shelves of all the pots. Just in time because the staff on that shelf were stocking the shelves with other items and they wanted the space. Way back in August I happened to go to tesco as you do, and on the shelves in the gardening section was ashelf full of hanging baskets 12in dia.for 35p.you know what I did! It certainly pays to buy gardening stuff out of season ready for next year. stainless steel fork and spade for £2:50 each at tesco It seems reading this back i might be on commission But youall know better than that. seeyouall Frank

Hi Frank...
Some of your blog looks like the print is crossed out.
This may be because you've used signs before and after a block of text...e.g. a dash like this -Frank-.

If you look at your draft and find you have used hyphens or something similar, delete them and publish again, and hopefully the blog won't look crossed out...

I hope this helps... you certainly get bargains buying out of season don't you. :o)

Hello again Frank...
I've just written a test blog draft and I think I've worked out what you've done...

Your text will look crossed out if you put a hyphen immediately before and after it..... like this...

-Frank-

However, if you type - Frank - , I think it is okay.

I hope this helps. Terra..x

I use the black pots that the flowers come into supermarkets for my cues this year and they sell them off regularly 8 for £1 so always on the look out for them!! Its great when you get a bargain it certainly makes things easier when your on a budget.

Some good bargains there!!....to go back to your hydrangea cuttings. If you can give them bottom heat and mist them occasionally they should root quickly. I'm assuming you have cut the diameter of the leaves back by at least half so that they don't transpire too much. good luck...:))

Thanks Amblealice, I have cut the leaves back. I wondered about bottom heat, I will turn my warm bed on tomorrow, although it seems a waste of elec. just for a few cuttings. It will probably make me do some more cuttings of fuchsias, so as not to waiste all of that heat.
Hello Genuisscuffy. Me and my wife had a walk around agood super store today. I think it is only a local and not one of a chain of stores. They sell everything and they have in there a large watering tray aprox. 2x5ft for just £6:80 everywhere else £10 and lots more gardening bargains. Iwill go back when I have a few pennies to spend. If youthink you are saving money you are alot happier.
