Hi Angie .. Thanks ..
not very fast growing, but useful in being evergreen, and having blossoms at this time of year. :o)

Extremely useful!

I just saw it yesterday and wondered what it was. It has also very decent perfume.

That's a nice plant TT ... I like the frothy looking flowers :o)

Really pretty plant TT and useful being evergreen and colourful at this time of year...as you say, perfumed too what more can you want from a plant?! :o)

New one on me too, seems to have everything!
How hardy is it?

Love the frosted looking flowers and the dark green shiny leaves. I have never seen it before.

This is worth knowing about Terra.....lovely.

Very pretty, Terra...like little starbursts :)x

Not a plant I've come across before but I like it, the flowers stand out well against the shiny leaves.

Thanks everyone for your interesting comments ...
... the 'blossoms' are very pretty ...
starting as clusters of white buds, and then
developing into the fluffy-looking flowers.

You said a "dark corner", Terra...would it like north-facing walls, then...or abandoned EDF concrete pylons (in a shady place)?

Nice healthy looking evergreen, adding to my faves as might get to try it out one day!
Do you think I could grow it up an east facing garage wall where there is little soil between path and garage wall? Can it cause any damage like some vigorous climbers?
Sorry for all the questions, but as you know its got to be Right Plant, Right Place!

Karen and Sarah ..
answering your questions about location ..
I have two Pileostegia viburnoides, which I planted at the same time in my back garden. The one in the photo gets morning sun and then shade .. the other one gets little sun at all.
The plant above, in morning sun, has grown much taller .. the other one is about half the height, but both equally healthy, and with blossom right now.
Not at all vigorous... very much a slow-growing evergreen ..
... it won't suddenly shoot with lengthy top growth as happens with, for example, Clematis armandii ..
Does this answer your questions ?
I hope this helps ! :o)

Yup! Thanks Terra :)

.. and I've just checked ... blossoms on mine do not have much scent, but are very pretty ..

Lovely. Added to faves for future reference. I'm taking my hYdrangea seemanii...also evergreen and shade tolerant with me. It was only in the ground a few months, but was just starting to grow well. I'm optimistic it will be happy in its new home as long as the winters aren't too harsh. Time will tell. This shrub looks a goodie for similar situation.

I see it is frost hardy...will take down to minus 5c....same as the hydrangea.

I think its lovely Terra and would really like it for the garden, but, I have nowhere to overwinter it - pity!
26 Sep, 2013
Terra I have just sent you a pm :o)))))x

Thanks Karen, Helenium and Annie ..
Just to confirm, my two Pileostegia viburnoides are planted by fences.
Over recent years with cold winters. these climbers have not had any frost protection .. they aren't overwintered indoors.. they stay outside all year ... and are doing well :o)

That sounds promising Terra, but, we do get really cold wet weather up here! I will investigate! Lol
30 Sep, 2013
Out of cold winds .. sheltered ..e.g. by a fence with some sun ... :o)

Thanks Terra.
