Thanks Val..it could be,but these have been in about 4 years,so I just keep trimming them back..I need to take cuttings this year .

I've never taken cuttings of wallflowers.I just dig out some bits where I don't want them to grow and as long as they've got roots, plant them elsewhere.Seems to have worked.Got them growing in the back now as well as the big bunch in the front, which like yours have been in ages.

Sandra, they are very similar in colour to mine I think and look so attractive next to that lovely bird bath.

Beautiful Bloomer your birdbath is still looking good too :o)

I have done that too,Val..but they are looking quite woody at the base now..but it's surprising how they still begin to show signs of life again, when I cut them back..like most things, they just want to live.:o)

Super bright colour Sandra. I lost all my wallflowers last year, I don't really know why? I love their perfume too.
17 Apr, 2014
Thanks Julia, how strange you lost yours, when they are so hardy..do they get some disease specific to Wallflowers ,I wonder?
17 Apr, 2014
I've no idea Sandra, they literally withered and died. Perhaps I should have Googled it at the time.
17 Apr, 2014
Maybe nobody asked them to dance, and they just lost interest :o) On a more serious note,I've just googled it out of curiosity ..or nosiness, you might say..!
They can die in a severe winter (mine didn't ) or they can be affected with club root..I sincerely hope it wasn't the latter...suggest adding lime?

Those wallflowers look great with the euonymus. I rarely manage to keep wallflowers - apart from Bowles Mauve, which is perennial, I think. Nonetheless, I keep buying more. I wonder if it's the heavy clay/ sodden Winters that are to blame?
17 Apr, 2014
Thank you..It might be the reason, but I don't really know,as mine is very free draining,so I guess it helps..At least your Bowles Mauve does well..one of my favourites too.:o)

These are,Petaltracey,I don't know about all varieties..It's only light, but it wafts in the breeze as you pass by..I got my Grandson to have a sniff, and he liked it..had to keep an eye on him though, for buzzy insects,as he stuck his nose straight in..as they do :o)

The wallflowers are a lovely colour. They seem to have done really well this year, never seen mine look so good. Was it all that rain we had earlier in the year do you think?
