Lovely Amy and from what Oji says, I need to get some. Sound perfect for my needs.

Yes they are perfect Ojib. I'm still waiting for this one to spread Dawn it was new last year , I wonder if you can buy seeds because if not it would be expensive to buy individual plants ....

This is the third year I've had mine. The clump has spread much more this year than last ( no surprise there) so I assume it is because the ground has been warmer.
I don't know how easy they would be to grow from seed.

Thanks Ojib perhaps mine will put a spurt on this year , do you split your plants at all ?
25 Mar, 2012
Love them but so do the slugs.Would think seed four years minimum from germination to flower.

That is beautiful!

No, Amy, I just leave them to do their own thing. It's a bit of garden in almost complete shade so I am pleased to have them helping to fill it.
I have the yellow Pagoda and also a slightly smaller creamy white one Californicum which I put inthis year.

You're so much further ahead than us Amy, I have 3 of these but they're only just showing buds, bought mine for 50p each from the local greengrocers!!!!! bargain :-) very slow to increase here though, think I've had mine 3 years and don't look a deal bigger, yet.

I can't wait 4 years Brian I'm to impatient :o) thanks for your information Ojib I have planted it in a nice shady spot ,the cream sounds nice ! yours were a real bargain Kathy at .50p each I think this was nearer £ 2.00 .....

I bought one of these last weekend Amy! Im also always on the lookout for plants that do well in shade. I wont tell you how much I paid for it, but it was a good deal more than £2! Its a good plant though so Im very pleased - lets hope they all spread nicely :-))
31 Mar, 2012
We bought a little one I think only last year and it is now three times as big!
Can you split them?
31 Mar, 2012
I hope so Poppy ! Sticki , I've had a look in my book it says ..... Resents root disturbance ----divide overcrowded clumps in late Autumn ! ----- do you know yesterday I found a clump growing where I planted one last year that I thought had died so fingers crossed I will now have two plants :o)
31 Mar, 2012

These are great for a shaded corner, and they spread, which is always a bonus in my book.
