Yellow Book Garden

I visited a lovely garden today at the Wych Elm pub in Kingston on Thames. The landlady, Janet, does the whole thing herself and I thought it absolutely lovely. Here are a few pictures.

This display won her a gold medal at Hampton Court flower show – my pic doesn’t do it justice.

I think she does a great job Cinders and today, Sheilar, they had a BBQ, which everyone seemed to enjoy. Lovely Pub.

She must work very hard indeed if she runs a pub and still manages to produce such a superb display. it all looks so lovely in the sunshine, what a great day for your visit.

It looks really lovely, well deserving of a win at any show.......

It was a lovely day and you are right in saying she deserved a win. There were great cakes too - but I had a glass of wine instead.

That's really beautiful ... pic 3 doesn't look as though it's in the UK! ... :o)

I think I would've opted for the wine too:)))))

Pic 3 is a tiny shaded area but with the use of a mirror she has made it look much bigger. She is a tiny little thing herself - but clearly with masses of energy.

Beautiful - I'll have to tell my daughter about it, as she lives a bus ride away!

A well deserved medal, wouldn`t it be great if more pubs were as inviting as this one.

This is beautiful! How on earth does she do it all! Thank you for putting these lovely pics on, I'd never get to see this otherwise!

Glad you all liked the pics. I went back today to look again at the pergola and take a few measurements because my garden is south west facing and the patio area is very, very hot. Janet gave me the name of the builder who put it up for her and I think that the week I was planning in the Lake District may just be put off for another year so that I can pay for the new addition to my garden.

My sort of pub, well any pub is my sort of pub. I could easily while away a few hours sat amongst those plants.

Pub lunch, cold wine and a good book. heaven.

What lovely plants and different areas to sit it. It must be magnate for customers. She deserves to be successful in a very difficult climate and I'm sure her gardens must help bring the customers in. Good luck to the landlady.

Wow Ginellie . . . what a gorgeous pub garden! Dappled shade surrounded by flowers, and a glass of wine in hand are my favourite things - it must be so tempting to visit OFTEN. Thanks for showing us, and good luck with your trellis/pergola plan.
