March in my garden

We are so looking forward to some lovely dry, sunny, spring days here. It’s so wet and blustery and soggy underfoot. It hasn’t stopped the plant’s waking up though. I took a few photos in the brief sunny spells we have had but it’s Sod’s Law the breeze got up and made it a bit difficult to get a steady photo. lol. The lawns look really shabby, desperately in need of mowing but the ground is so wet they would end up looking like a ploughed field. Better to leave them a bit longer I suppose. Seeing the daffodils and other spring flowers and shrubs flowering are cheering me up though
Here’s what’s around my garden now towards the end of March.

The Greengage plum flowers so early in February I am surprised it fruits at all. The blossom is pure white until the sunset turns it a golden yellow.

We bought these pots for the pond side from a shop in Thorsby Court yard while we were staying at Warners next door. They were so reasonably priced I bought one each for my daughter and daughter in law for Mother’s Day too. I really love the 2 acorn pots from the same place. They are made from concrete and are very heavy.

The Chocolate Vine has used the fence to escape into the Cherry tree. We cant get to the cherries before the birds so we just enjoy the blossom now….

Lovely blog, Sheila! I felt like I was walking around your garden with you.
The blossom on your Greengage is beautiful, I just love the buttery yellow colour! It’s abundantly blooming too!
Your magnolia is thriving isn’t it, and it’s displaying well for you! Lovely to see your daffodils and hellebore continuing to flower, is it campanula in the blue pot? It looks positively glowing! Mine seems to have vanished after starting to bloom last month! Your Pieris is far ahead of mine..looking pretty.
Your pond area is looking smart too, love the vividness of the yellow plant, so lush.
It’s been sunshine here for a couple of days and again this morning, but it’s very chilly..hopefully April will be warmer!

I love the way you have done your garden especially the way you have done the pond and surroundings.
I remember it from before from previous blogs.
Your garden seems well ahead of mine! My Marsh Marigold have only just come into leaf.
And I love your plum tree too!
I agree with Kate, it was a lovely walk around your garden.

Lovely blog Sheila! We had a greengage tree in our previous garden, but the blossom was nothing like yours … glorious.

You do have a lovely mature garden, so many pretty flowers bravely blooming in this chilly weather. Love the new pots too.

So much colour & interest. Ty for the tour. That Clematis is lovely & doing a grand job of covering the water butt. Nice pots too. The acorn one is very unusual.

A lovely tour of your garden, thank you Homebird. It is further into Spring than mine down here in the Chilterns, the blossom is only just breaking on our fruit trees and the buds on my marsh marigolds and Elsa Spath clematis barely formed. Much of my garden is in the shadow of the house so it is inclined to lag behind everyone else. My heart lifted when I saw the initial mauve haze on a wall of aubretia in Chesham at the beginning of the week, yet yours is much more full of promise. I like your pots too, what a find!

Thank you for all your lovely comments and like to see my garden. Sorry I am only just rereading through them.
I hope everyone has had a really nice Easter. Lots of chocolate for the chocoholics and flowers for everyone else. We had all the family here so it’s been a bit hectic but I am always so happy to have them here all together.
We got to mow the overgrown raggy lawns yesterday and its made a vast difference. It’s so good to be gardening again.

We had a quiet Easter, no chocolate eggs until today when a £10 one was reduced to £3 in the supermarket ... it fell into the trolley! It does wonders for the soul to be out gardening once more.

Ha!ha! Shirley. It was a lovely day yesterday wasn’t it. Yes it was windy but blue sky and a warm wind, such a change from the cold wet weather we have had for ages.
