My front garden at the beginning of August.

I’ve been planting some hardy Fuchsias and herbaceous perennials in my front garden.
I was hoping for some colour there this year, but the weather has been so cold that it isn’t as nice as I wanted it to be.
I’ve also got some Begonia semperflorens and Livingstone Daisies there, which seem to be doing well :o)
Here are some photos :-
Livingstone Daisies …
Impatiens and Lobelias in a tub …
Begonias and Fuchsias …
A Begonia, and Tagetes (mostly eaten away) in a ‘cauldron’
Astrantia and Oxalis …
I am disappointed in these Nigellas. They are self seeded from last year, but they are a wishy-washy colour :(
and I have pulled lots of them up …
One last view …
Thanks for looking at my little front garden. It’s only small but I try to plant as much as I can in it :)

It's not easy when the weather is so cold and wet but you still have plenty of colour in a small area!

Its different from last year but looks a lot more settled.
I really like it. It's been a disappointing year for fuchsias but you have two there that are doing OK - are they Genii and Rose of Denmark? What's the white one? It all looks lovely.

They say small is beautiful,Hywel,so your garden fits the bill :o) I think the Begonias stand up to anything, and I love them too..I wouldn't want to be without them..They look good with your Fuchsias..

It looks really lovely Hywel and I can remember when you first did this border ! I bet everyone who walks by admires it !

You have certainly taught us all a lot Hywel. Putting plants close together eliminates weeds, and makes watering more beneficial to all the plants.

Never come across Miss California - is she hardy? That's the one I thought was Rose of Denmark.

Miss California is not hardy Steragram. Thre's a photo in my latest Fuchsia blog. The flowers are big and very pretty.
I've got some nice rooted cuttings if you'd like one ...

Thank you for the tempting offer Hywel, but I am trying to stick with the hardy ones because of lack of space for overwintering. Stopped planning for a greenhouse when next door's blew away...
