Sea Lavender

On the coast near here there’s a salt marsh, where there’s lots of Sea Lavender growing at the moment,
and we went there last week (on a day when it wasn’t raining !)
Some photos of the salt marsh …
I could see lovely patches of mauve dotted all over the salt marsh, and it was Limonium vulgare – Sea Lavender.
So I went to take some photos of it.
Beryl was worried I might sink in the mud lol ;o)
but it was quite dry and safe to walk on,
as you can see from the next photo, showing a nice path across the salt marsh, and also some patches of Sea Lavender.
A little tidal river flows alongside the salt marsh, but the tide was out …
I’ve got a Limonium in a pot.
It’s coming into flower now, and here’s a photo of it :-
Not as good as the ones on the salt marsh :o)

Hello Hywel - what a lovely blog - I don,t think I have ever seen sea lavender in bloom - we have never been to Laugharne - does the sea lavender bloom into September?
the boat house where Dillon Thomas wrote some of his literature is there too I believe - wishing you both a good weekend Jane

Jane, thank you. You can see the boat house in the 3rd pic down - on the cliffs in the distance, by the river :)
I don't think the sea lavender blooms into Sep. I've never seen it that late.
Thank you Neena, yes it's a shame ...

Thankyou Hywel for the pic of the boathouse - I have never seen a shot of it from that angle it looks quite isolated - it is interesting to view these places from different view points - best wishes for a lovely weekend - Jane

Laugharne is said to be the real "Under milk wood", which he called Llarregub. Try spelling it backwards...Typical Dylan!
