More Little Journeys :)

Back in the summer, Beryl had to go for a hospital appointment,
and because it was such a sunny warm day, we went down by the sea afterwards :)
The appointment was in the morning, so I packed a picnic lunch and we took it to a place where there’s a little harbour and an icecream van :)
Then I pushed Beryl in the chair around the harbour, because she can’t walk any more,
and also leaning on the chair helps me walk, because I’ve got painful knees – we depend on each other.
It was nice to just sit for a while in the sunshine and watch the world go by :)
The tide was out, revealing a muddy dock …
The RNLI had made this pretty display :-
We didn’t go to any of the places on this sign post !
Trepassey, the place on the sign post, is a small fishing village in Newfoundland.
Amelia Earheart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Trepassey is where she flew from,
and she landed in this little Welsh village on the Carmarthenshire coast …
You can read more about her on this link :-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_Earhart
There’s an old disused light house on a promentory …
And when the tide is out there’s a vast expanse of golden sands :)
Hospitals are such dreary places, so it was nice to have a bit of fresh air and sunshine by the sea afterwards :)

Very nice too.lets hope the sunshine holds on for a while yet.Lovely and bright and sunny here again this morning just a bit fresher now the temperatures have dropped a bit. But, we could do with some rain because I need to move some plants around but the ground is too dry in places and the roots could break, getting them out.

The only way to end a boring and usually miserable visit to the hospital....... lovely views, you can't help but love Wales coastal areas, the beaches look so clean and deserted...... hopefully you enjoyed an ice cream Hywel?

Thank you all for your comments.
Yes we did have an icecream each :) Beryl usually has a strawberry flavour and I have chocolate :)
Nice to see you back on here Amy :) x
Sue Yes we do have lovely views here. I only have to look out the back door lol but I don't want to boast. It's beautiful everywhere really :)
I hope you get a drop of rain to soften the soil Paul, but please keep it in Essex lol ;)

What a lovely blog. Looks like you and Beryl found a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

That looks grand Hywel - I bet you both enjoyed it. I have only seen that area from the train which runs right by the edge of the sands - its a lot prettier in "real life"!
It must be hard for you pushing the chair when your own knees are hurting - you are a hero. It was nice to see a photo of Beryl at last, even if she is in the distance!

What a super way to spend the rest of the day after time waiting around in a hospital. ..never the best occupation of time. I'm so glad you and Beryl had such nice weather and that you were able to 'depend on each other' isn't that what a good marriage is all about?

I despise hospitals as well. Glad you and Beryl saved the day by doing what you did. Seems that you had a lovely afternoon.

In hospitals I always look for interesting things I dont know about. Occupies the mind. And young people who know more than I do !
Very professional photographs. Thank you Hywel and for the Amelia Earhart link.
I enjoyed the Butterfly programme last night on Channel 4
'Painted Ladies' are amazing. I did know about butterfly migration, but it was wonderful to watch it really happening.
I find one of the ketoprofen gels are very helpful for my knees. Ask GP, they seem to have favourite products !

Correction. Sorry Hywel. If you are taking anti-inflamatory painkillers by mouth, two of this type of drug cancels each other out. Only use the gel if not taking any other ani-
inflamatory. I was given a wrong prescription when my back was first bad. In pain for 3 months. No wonder nothing worked ! Oh well, I got a lot of knitting done.

I love your little trips and they are always informative your so lucky Hywel to have such scenery close by where you live when parts like here are building over our green belts in concrete and ugly buildings it would be lovely to see a photo of you and Beryl together sorry to hear you have bad knees my mum use to rub mustard oil on hers and her back cheap to buy to hope all went well at hospital for Beryl it was a lovely day out for me to thank you for sharing.

I will ask about the Mustard Oil 3d any natural remedy interests me.

Lovely photos Hywel ... so glad you enjoyed the rest of the day after the hospital visit. When we were visiting Mum daily, back in July, for a month we used to pop down to the beach after our visit. Does you the world of good ...

Thank you all for your comments :)
I don't take anti inflamatory medication Diane. It isn't that sort of arthritis. I take painkillers when it gets too painful but they make me fall asleep :(
Beryl uses the gel sometimes.
I am interested to hear about mustard oil Thruppenybit. Thank you :)

Stunning pictures and you couldn't ask for better weather.

A view of the world going by at any time is like medicine!
Some great views of the beach there, Hywel!
In the block of flats where I live if you go up to the filth floor there is a view over several rows of housetop roofs! What's this got to do with the seaside - nothing, except row after row of rooftops makes be think of wave after wave as they come marching in from the sea to crash on the beach! LOL!
11 Oct, 2016
I'm only 3,296 miles away. Feel free to stop by for tea anytime!
11 Oct, 2016
Thank you both :)
Balcony I can see how rows of rooftops could look like the sea :D
I may surprise you one day Bathgate lol ...

Hywel I thoroughly enjoyed this outing to the beach with you and Beryl. You make every trip one to remember. I don't think I would go to any of the places on the sign post but I did manage a trip to near Newport in the Spring to visit the Alpine Garden Society show. I talked so much about wanting to venture further west that my daughter and her husband and the children decided to rent a caravan for a week. They had a great time. It is on my 'To do' list.

A lovely blog and Photo's ,Hywel, and glad you enjoyed the rest of the day out together,in the lovely sunshine..I didn't know Amelia Earhart flew from there..what a woman !
I hope Beryl 's visit to the Hospital was positive, and nice to see her enjoying being out in the fresh air,in beautiful surroundings..xx

I was trying to guess which of the two local hospitals you visited. I've been to both, but as a "visitor", thankfully.
Couldn't work out the beach location. As a child I used to love the beach : the feel of sand in one's sandals; the floral clock. It was all so exciting.
Beaches round here get crowded though there are some we can still find that are relatively quiet. Took visitors to one area when we first came South and discovered, too late, there was a Naturist one very near.
Bet Beryl found the sea trip and the picnic, plus ice cream, more therapeutic than the hospital visit.

Scotsgran if they venture down here again advise them to go further west. The coastal scenery is even better and there are some fantastic beaches. May is the time to go if wildflowers are your thing.

Thanks for your comments :)
Sandra the appointment was rather unproductive.
Eirlys the hospital was in Llanelli.
The sea was in Burry Port ...
or Porth Tywyn to you and me :)
