Bottom of the garden

A single track road passes the bottom of my garden, and there’s an opening from the garden out to the road where I’ve planted a Dorothy Perkins rose and a hardy Fuchsia called ‘Margaret’.
The Rose has one very long branch which I didn’t prune away, and I placed it over the entrance to form a sort of ‘arch’ …. although it isn’t a proper arch, but I don’t know what else to call it. You have to walk under it to get out to the road (You’ll see what I mean in the photos to follow)
This year the Rose and Fuchsia have been full of flowers, and mingle above your head as you walk under them to the road.
Here are some photos …
Sorry they’re a bit dark, a lot of shade comes from the hedgerow trees.
And out to the road …
I hope you didn’t scratch your head on the thorns as you walked under the rose ;D

That's an arch to me. both flowers are a lovely colour. Is the rose scented?

Lovely mix of the two flowers. Is the arch fairly low, as for little people?

Great job, Hywel! 👏👏👏 That looks like a lovely passageway out to the street with all those roses & fuchsias! Congratulations! 👏

What a lovely walk way you have created with the beautiful fuschia and rose in those gorgeous colours. How very special to have a route out of your garden like that.

Thank you for all your comments :)
People passing by often remark on how pretty the garden is Meadowland.
The rose is not scented Seaburngirl but it has many flowers.
I am careful going under it Sheilabub because it is low.
It is low Feverfew, I am 5 ft 6 inches and I have to bend to go under it.
It is not there any more, I had to take it down to put an old fridge/freezer there so that the council could collect it.
I didn't cut the rose so I may put it back, but the thorns were a nuisance. The flowers are finishing now anyway.

Hywel it looked so pretty, was a lovely combination with the fuschia, shame it had to go but sometimes we have to do these things, if you decide to grow it back you can now train the arch to start the curve a bit higher up, I know from vast experience how roses like to grab us..

Thanks Sue, I am going to revamp this bit of the garden so I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet. I may just put it back though because I'll miss it :)

Thank you Sandra.
I often put a comment and forget the like button, or the other way round ... but I don't think it really matters.
I'm pleased to hear about the Penstemons x :)
