Llyn Llech Owain and country park

Llyn Llech Owain is a lake in a country park near where I live, but I have never been there, so one summer day when I didn’t feel like working in the garden I went for an hour just to have a look.
A view of the surrounding countryside :-
Red admiral butterfly :-
There weren’t many wild flowers there but I did see these …
Sheeps Bit Scabious :-
Eupatorium :-
Rose Bay Willowherb going to seed :-
A nice place for coffee after your walk :-
There’s a ledgend about Llyn Llech Owain, but there’s a ledgend about most things around here :D so I won’t bore you with it.
I hope you’ve enjoyed walking around the lake with me :)

Lovely walk, Hywel! Strange, isn't it? We can visit far off places but not the ones on our doorstep! 🤔

I’m pleased you decided to visit, Hywel…it really looks a serene and interesting place. Thank you for the ‘tour’..your pics are really lovely too! Lots of pretty wildflowers to admire.
I really like your first 2 pics - they could be landscape paintings. 😊
Ps. I’m going to google now - I’m keen to know all about the legends!

A good thought Hywel! I was surprised how flat it seemed - I thought it was all hills round where you are! It was interesting to see the Eupatorium - I'd never seen it before coming to live here. Love the photo of the Rosebay willowherb (but rather have the pic than the plant in real life...) I'm going to join the crowd investigating the legend now! Thank you for walk - very calm and soothing!

I enjoyed the tour as well esp the lake pictures. That round building; was it once a mill?

Thank you Shirley and Bathgate ...
I don't know what that building was, or even if it's new. It had a plaque saying 'Discovery Tower' but it was empty and locked up.

Anyone in SE Wales, there's a rare plants sale this weekend, not sure what will be on sale, but there's cake! Keep it up, Hywel Bach.

It looks like it was a lovely day for a walk, Hywel. There's always some where near to us to discover, isn't there?
