Now this is just TO MUCH

When Carol said she liked the photo’s on GoY, I knew, I just knew it meant no good. No good to my wallet (who sadly past away after a savage beating, this week) No good to my veggies (who think I’ve abandoned them) and definately no good to me (I have also suffered a beating this weekend and feel abandoned).
Read on and all will become clear !!!
It started with a simple idea. HA !!
Why not dig a border?
We can sink the pots into the ground, just in case we do get a move. WE??
It looks ok, but do we need to start it now?
“Please note the time stamp and remember it was around 25+ degrees and not a breath of wind”
I promise I’ll help !!!
Cheeky madame even took photo’s, so as to bribe me if ever I grew a backbone.
So “WE” dug
And Dug
Until “WE” could dig no more.
All the earth was removed in the bucket (I don’t need a wheelbarrow, I’ve got a bucket)
Keep an eye on that time stamp won’t you.
Well at the end of day one, I’m totally kna…Tired, the bed is dug and we were just positioning pots before “WE” dug them in, when (Thank God) It started to rain :~)))))))))))))
I’ve never been so glad to feel 17 drops on my poor aching back. (Paulthe gardener, now you know how I managed to count them)
DAY TWO.
Well it started off ok, I got some help !!
We placed them
And replaced them
Then we replaced them Again
and again,
and again
and again
Then we decided we liked them in the positions I had put them in, in the first place
So WE dug them in
Then we took them up again and put them back again. (is this starting to look like a patten to you?
Until FINALLY, we were FINISHED !!!!
It doesn’t look to bad
Even if I say do so myself
But at what cost ?
I know some of you GoY’s could do this in your sleep,
But we enjoyed ourselves and it looks great !
Hi from Holly, She helped too !!!

Hi Mobee, Carol often looks at me like that while I'm reading blogs :~))
5 Jul, 2009
The borders are great Ian I can see that you get a great deal of 'help' from Carol, in fact as much 'help' as I get from Gill :o)) As she says she is the planner and I am the labourer, but hey it works well.
All that work was worth a good steak and a few beers i'll bet?
5 Jul, 2009

5 Jul, 2009
Wow Ian, What a lot of work. A job well done as it looks lovely.
Nice to see a pic of Carol......Hello Carol. A good job done on your part too, getting Ian to do all that for just a steak and a beer. Way to go!!
Now Ian, it can't have been that bad. The only pictures of you are of you sitting or laying down on the job!!! Tsk, tsk. :o)
6 Jul, 2009
You've worked hard Ian. It looks great now. You have Tagetes there - do you plant them with your vegies aswell ? I understand they repell aphids.
Hi to Holly !
6 Jul, 2009
I SAID I was sorry, Ian! Stop making me feel so guilty, Pleeeeeeeese!
Anyway, you said you liked the results, so maybe I needn't feel bad about it? ;-)
6 Jul, 2009
Aw Spritz dearest Spritz, you are such an angel. I love it and found digging it a great idea for all the family. We have voted it a brill weekend and can't wait to do another. Thank you for the insparaition. xxx
Cheers Hywel, can I ask you a question, but don't tell anyone else?, Whats a Tagetes?
Gilli, Humph.................Thanks sweety and Carol says Hi to
6 Jul, 2009
They're those little orange flowers with a strong smell when you rub them. When I plant k beans I put some of them there aswell. They are supposed to keep aphids away. People plant them with tomatoes aswell.
6 Jul, 2009
Well Ian it looks like you've been living up to your name with all that digging! Good to see you've got some help in the garden for a change.
6 Jul, 2009
Thanks for that Hywel and I think some of them might disapear !! :~))
Hi Lily, it was hard work but definatly worth it. Thank you :~)
6 Jul, 2009
Be ware. Slugs love them.
6 Jul, 2009
Noooooooo! :~(
6 Jul, 2009
I loved this blog :))
Take it easy now for a few days and see what ideas Mrs D gets for THIS COMING weekend Ian !!!!!
6 Jul, 2009
Her mother is coming on Wednesday for 10 days so any suggestions of digging are definatly out of the window. Mind you I'll prob. be sick of driving by the time she's gone :~((
As Mother in law's go she's not bad, she lives over 200 miles away :~))))))))))))
6 Jul, 2009
LOL
6 Jul, 2009
Oh wow Ian your lucky, mine lives just 200 yards away right opposite us :o(
6 Jul, 2009
Ouch !!!
6 Jul, 2009
Its all looking good Ian.......and with a name such as yours you were bound to do some digging at some time or other.... well done to all of you... i know how hard it is ......
6 Jul, 2009
I enjoyed your blog Ian and the comments from other "GrowyourOwners". You ALL must be very proud of your efforts....well done.......What a shame losing your photos...pity you hadn't backed them up......you will in future won't you?
6 Jul, 2009
Oh Bob, I bet she's a lovely woman :~))
Hi Holly, I'm seriously thinking of changing my name to Ian_sleeps but I don't think it will do any good. Thanks for your comment :~))
AA, you bet I will (be backing up my photo's) and thank you too for your lovely words :~))
6 Jul, 2009
By the way louise what Carol has got lined up for this weekend looks suspisiously like Delphiniums, Garden Pinks, and Lillies :~/
6 Jul, 2009
Ooooooh....my kind of plants...Your Carol has got good taste....
6 Jul, 2009
Get plenty of rest in the next few days Ian :)))
6 Jul, 2009
I fee its to late Louise, herself is eyeing up the sky and saying things like "It looks like it's not gona rain again today"
and "that border looks a little plain/empty" and "Aw those little plants looking all lost and lonely out there (in the back garden) on their own"
HELP...............
6 Jul, 2009
Oh, but just think of how wonderful your garden will be if you DO get out there and plant things, Ian! I
I think 'herself' might have a point, there. Sorry! ;-)
6 Jul, 2009
Go on Ian....get out there and ENJOY....you know you want to....lol.....-)
6 Jul, 2009
ahha the mystery is solved Ian , like the blog although like you I aint so keen on the digging beds looking good .
Mac
6 Jul, 2009
elementary my dear Watson...I had it figured out on Mac's blog LOL Great bed and great blog. Will be looking forward to some more flowers :))) that veggie blog just wizzed past here on a motorcycle LOL
6 Jul, 2009
Go after it Kris, It aint got a helmet!!!!!
6 Jul, 2009
Only just found this Ian, now I know where the 17 drop count came from. as you'll see from my blog, we didn't have much more. But trouble with the wind...if you know what I mean!
ps, who's this bloke Doug(Dug) you keep mentioning? Does he live next door/ Nice of him to lend a hand!!!
6 Jul, 2009
Lol,Lol,Lol, He didn't do much by the feel of my legs and arms. :~)))
By the way Kris, I guess not having a helmet doesn't mean much in the US. but its a legal requirement in 'ole' blighty
6 Jul, 2009
I really enjoyed your blog, Ian, gave me a good laugh - I do like to see other people working! Glad you enjoyed it and look forward to more of your handiwork - because I'm sure there is more to come :)
6 Jul, 2009
Thanks Gee, I like hard work as well......I can stand and watch it all day :~))
6 Jul, 2009
Depends which state you're riding in Ian. So if you live in Illinois you don't have to own a helmet but our trip to Nebraska we have to have one. :) But we didn't have to buy any for the trip...:)
6 Jul, 2009
Good on ya, I think its daft not to wear one. I've been a lorry driver most of my working life and some of the sights you see..................
6 Jul, 2009
By the way Kris, you have the dubious title of being the 300th comment in my 'in' box !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6 Jul, 2009
Well now Ian. This blog is all very amusing and your new beds are all very pretty, but I'm wondering where this promised blog on your veggie growing has got to?! lol
7 Jul, 2009
It disapeared in a puff of smoke when my pc blew up :~(( Sid It was last seen by Kmccue07 wizzing past on a motorcycle !! and I didn't even know it had a passport or a licence :~) I havn't had the time to replace it as I've spent most of today reading a blog about the GoY Olympics !!. I got to about comment 200 and only another 480 to go :~))
7 Jul, 2009
ye and didnt even have a helmet on
7 Jul, 2009
Thats right Mac
7 Jul, 2009
I so enjoyed that blog Ian and your helpers are much too nice to get their hands dirty. The boarder looks great and of course the rearranging of plants was completely right LOL just one thing I saw lots more grass that could be consigned to the compost to maybe squeeze in a few more plants. Little Holly is gorgeous as is caroI!
I keep seeing something flying around but every time I try to catch it it goes off again. Could that be your missing blog?
7 Jul, 2009
If you see it again Sue, offer it a jam buttie that should get its attention. (mind you it would have to be strawberry jam!)
7 Jul, 2009
that is where I have been going wrong Ian I offered it chip butties, marmalade butties and even a Marmite buttie which was when I heard all the spluttering but just put it down to the neighbourhood drunk hic! i do have a bit of strawberry jam at the back of the cupboard and if I scrape off the tiny bit of mould maybe it will stop long enough for me to entice it down? just a thought!!!
7 Jul, 2009
Lol Sue, I would try it but be careful its got big teeth and no manners...........
Do you know I think you are as bad as me, if not worse.
Just don't answer the door if they've got white coats on !!!!!:~)
7 Jul, 2009
Hmmm - I was wondering what Birtie was chasing round the garden this morning - must have been your blog! I will have to warn her about its big teeth.......
7 Jul, 2009
Wow its getting around, it was in USA, then Lincs, now over in the west, perhaps its on its way to Hywel in wales next ?
7 Jul, 2009
With all the rain today, it'll be a soggy blog by the time it is captured :-(
7 Jul, 2009
If I don't get it back.............Its got all my photo's and the weather has been to bad to take any more :~(
7 Jul, 2009
Ian and Spritz (indirectly) I'm so full of admiration for you both cos u manage to "dig a new border" and what amazes me is the pristine state of the grass edges. If I tried this there would just be a mudbath-swamp!
Good work.
7 Jul, 2009
Oh dear, if you only knew Weeding, It took ages with a dust pan and brush to get rid of all the mud and stones.
7 Jul, 2009
Oh! Ian I saw it hiding behind my compost heap, it had the biggest teeth i had ever seen. When I offered it the slightly mouldy jam it upt and went over the fence and that was it. So sorry, I almost had your blog!!!!
9 Jul, 2009
Oh bug... sorry, never mind Sue if you see it again telephone the RSPCB (Royal Society Prepared to Capture Blogs).
Thanks for trying sweety. xx :~))
9 Jul, 2009
I am the founder of lost causes Ian or should that be good causes? whatever I will be on the lookout! LOL
10 Jul, 2009
Perhaps you should be the founder of lost blogs Sue. :~))
10 Jul, 2009
Yes Ian I have the perfect filing cabinet for them to hide in which will also be good for the garden so long as it's finely shredded!!! :~ )) Can someone kindly explain what I have just said with the squiggle thing. i have a clue- ish!!!
10 Jul, 2009
Its a 'smilie' Sue and this :~(( is a grumpy.
:~)) Happy thoughts
:~(( unhappy thoughts
Not that you could have a unhappy thought but now you know :~))
10 Jul, 2009
Thanks friend. I gave son-in-law your msg and he said to say thanks :~)))))
12 Jul, 2009
Great blog Ian...cheered me up no-end...lol...:>)
12 Jul, 2009
Hi Sue, Your more than welcome.
Hi Motinot, Thank you, I have never had so much fun with a blog :~))
12 Jul, 2009

12 Jul, 2009
Thanks for that Jewells, I hope you can wait a while until my new wallet is trained up ! Carol keeps trying to get at it but I've got it safely in a compound until its strong enough to resist. lol
12 Jul, 2009
Great blog Ian. All of your hard work paid off, the borders look great!
14 Jul, 2009

I know that feeling. what a lot of work in a very short time. The plants are lovely colours and when they put some growth on they will be even better. What a happy little helper you have there. :o)
