Lovely produce growing there, Joan, I love the Sweetcorn and it's great how you know the names of the other plot-holders. When we had our allotment we barely saw anyone !

I should be so lucky to have slugs! Too dry! Mind you my neighbour used to collect snails from her garden walls to eat....I swear I am not joking! Field mice eat my leeks but apart from that the flea beetles have a go at the turnip leaves and thats about it. But water, water, water is the main thing. We have the butts in place because of summer storms and fortunately water bills are not so expensive here as in England.

oh no Trod,i would run a mile at a mouse..i could feed your neighbour for weeks on what we collect in 2 days lol good job you have the water butts too..have you lived in France long ?

We've been here for just over 6 years. We started off in an old village house with a smallish garden (but lovely soil) and then bought some land in the same village and build a bungalow. So I have about 100 metre x 30 metre of uncultivated field to try and carve up and its slow work. The garden faces south and we get very hot dry periods and then a mad storm which fills the butts in one go. We could probably have half a dozen of them!

sounds lovely, you have had some hard work to do with building your own place..and more hard work ahead with the field..good luck with it..i think we have had enough rain to fill a butt here today lol..:o)
