We went out to view the ISS flyover at 19:41 hrs, binoculars in hand as it sped over the night skies…
I decided to take a few pics of the garden lit up by a mixture of mains powered plus solar…
I quite like to take pics at night sometimes, just to capture the plants in a different focus and light.
Cordyline, tree fern, brunnera with pretty blue flowers amongst the chosen few this evening. Just snapped them with my phone camera..should’ve taken the Nikon out really. Next time!

Lovely pictures, I went out and watched the space station as well, it's back again tonight BTW but not sure if clear skies forecast

If clear I may pinch your idea & see what I can capture, I've only a small battery powered LED spot but could be interesting anyway

Thanks Grandad gardener! I didn’t know it was passing over again tonight..I’ll be back out again! OH tried to take some pics with his Nikon, but, still no joy..it moves so fast doesn’t it! Nice to see it though, plus, I bet they are Coronavirus free too..
Must be some view from up there, lucky folks!
I’d give it a go taking some pics..you never know. I hope you manage to get some, look forward to seeing them if you do. Fingers crossed for you.

What a great idea to take photos at night time. I loved them, especially the brunnera and the fern fronds. :)

Thank you Karen. I think I may pop out again tonight..

Good photos Kate and yes a great idea 'night photos' ,it certainly show foliage and plants off in a different light .

Somethings really show up better at night - spider webs for example. I really enjoyed your photos. I would have loved to see the fly-over had I known. Great photos Amy.

Lovely photos....Kate.

Hi Kate, my daughter has the i s s app on her phone, whenever I visit, she has it casting to the t v, to me it gets a bit boring after about half an hour, but she seems to be enthralled by it, and watches it for hours on end, I keep telling her to get a life, but it falls on deaf ears, Derek.

How do you know when the SS is due and where in the sky it is? Ooh Kate I don't think they are lucky - would hate being shut up in there for so long. And we complain about having to isolate ourselves!
The photos are great, especially the first one.

Yikes, I called you Amy! I apologize for that Kate. I love how you use the darkness to highlight certain aspects not noticed during daylight. Very talented.

Thank you Amy. It definitely gives a different perspective.
That’s ok Paul! Don’t worry, we all get names mixed up..and Amy is a nice name. You’ve got me thinking about looking for spider’s webs now! Thank you for your kind comment. Yes! I love to see the ISS and wonder what they’re doing at that precise moment they pass over!
Thanks Dd.
Bless Derek! I guess it can be a bit boring at times, especially when it’s something that isn’t of interest to everyone, especially after hours.
I have relatives on Merritt Island in Florida- they have the channel on tv where you can watch for 24 hours a day..I found it fascinating when I was there - but I couldn’t sit all day watching.
Sue, thank you for liking the pics. I really would love to be up there, not for ages at at time..maybe a few weeks. I’d love to see the planet from that aspect, one of my favourite views ever, when you see it on tv. All the research too, so interesting..

Sorry Sue, I forgot to mention when to find out if the space station is flying over - you can google spot the station or like my OH, he has the app :-D 😂

No photos of garden with light too cold plus I missed the SS last night, clouds came over at the critical moment.

It's back tonight at 2044 with 3 minutes view but tomorrow is great, at 1957 hours for 4 minutes. You can track here, this is from London but can be amended for your area

I noticed the weather changed last night too, Grandad gardener..cloud came over and yes, it became really quite icy cold yesterday afternoon.

Not gardening but seen from my garden.

I did spot SS last night, turned cold & clear.
I also saw a lot of lights shortly after, bit of research told me they were Starlink X [train in the sky], to my eye it was moving chain of stars, I initially thought it was landing lights of planes into Heathrow

They certainly look different in the night :)

My daughter txt me and said that you can see Venus in the sky, I went outside to have a look and thought that's the space station, told her and she then informed me that I would see the space station the following night :) :) your photo's are lovely and with the light just falling on certain bits gives them so much more impact.

That was a great idea Kate. I didn't know about the space station as I don't listen to the news just lately as its so depressing !

Interesting Grandad gardener, I’ll have to look that one up, haven’t heard of Starlink X. Thanks for the mentioning.
You’re right Hywel, you definitely get a different perspective at night.
Thanks Davey, that’s kind of you.
I’ve spotted Venus sometimes in the sky, it looks a bit pink coloured.
We’ve got a 6 inch reflector telescope, we get it out now and then to look at the moon and the planets. I think in these times, we shall get it out at the weekend with a hot drink, chocolate sounds good, while wrapped up warm!
Thanks Rose, sometimes, especially right now, anything not virus related is cheering and lets you forget about it albeit for a short while x
