A trip to Ayrshire.

I visited with my parents in Ayrshire for 5 days and enjoyed some fine weather.
One day, we took a trip to a GC near to Cardwell Bay.
We stopped to take a pic of the Isle of Arran, Ailsa Craig bird sanctuary from the coast, plus a couple of countryside shady nooks and neighbouring garden – ferns, foliage, running water and mossy mounds!
The LAST few pics are at the GC – a couple of attractive acers and their oriental inspired pond.
We were lucky that we had fine weather every day!

So you took the nice weather with you! Glad you are back home again. It's great visiting family where ever they live but what a bonus with views like that.

Stunning photos Kate … and what a sky! I love all that moss, and the specimen Acer looks amazing. Gorgeous leaf colours - perhaps autumn comes a little earlier in Scotland?

Thank you, Ange. They do live next to the most gorgeous coastal views, albeit bang on the edge of the countryside too! The GC is a favourite, there’s a waterfall that cascades from the cliff top above and runs through the car park across to the sea...I forgot to take a pic on our way out...
I saw several big acer specimens there, they have a lovely selection of trees, shrubs and everything else! Oh, plus a large restaurant with fab food choices!

Thank you, Julia, my parents were pleased to have me to themselves they said, although they did miss OH!
They have a lot of golf courses surrounding them too, plus they live between the coast and countryside! My sister lives a 5 minutes walk from the seafront with the Isle of Arran for a view. 😊

Thanks for your kind message, Eileen. It’s good to get back home though, even though it was wonderful to see everyone! We had lovely weather every day! Sunshine and mild - although, cold nights and I’m sure I spotted frosty dew on the golf course I passed through on my way home on Wednesday morning!

Thank you, Sheila! You’re spot on! Autumn definitely arrives earlier up there! I really wanted to stop off along the M74 and take some pics of the gorgeous autumnal colour emerging in so many hundreds of trees...but, once you’re driving and on your way...
I do think the west coast seem to grow shady loving or acidic loving plants well due to the soil and rain.
I can’t believe how many hydrangeas I saw in all the gardens...particularly the blue acid loving ones..lots of rhododendron plants, azaleas, ferns...lushness to a tee!

Thank you, Klahanie! I think the wetter climate makes it a greener county! I am pleased I got the chance to catch up with family. Thanks for liking. 😊

Our son and his family live in Troon and can see Arran from their bedroom window.
Your photos are so lovely and evocative of that very special area.
He is coming to see us next!! We shall have to wait for those stunning views and sunsets.

Chris, that’s amazing to hear! My parents and I went for a meal last week to ‘The Old Loans Inn’, which is right next to Troon. First time for me, but, I enjoyed the food!
I used to take that coastline for granted, but, I do miss it! My sister lives right on the coast and she has the same view! x

What a bonus to have such a stunning area to visit when you go and see your parents, Kate. Beautiful photos of the countryside. And I would kill for some of those wonderful acers!! What a bonus to have such a great outlet nearby!
