Bracing the bitter cold on Bridlington beach.

A bitterly cold morning in East Yorkshire on the coast. Sleet spotted on the drive back…no falling snow fortunately, unlike so many others on the site.
Solitary dog walker braving the cold temperatures.

Thank you, Julia. I used to love writing postcards from different holiday destinations...all change now isn't it, sadly.

Hi Klahanie, as Eileen said earlier, it's not
overly close. It's roughly 28 and a half miles from me, 50 mins. In summer it's much longer to drive up the coast to Brid, due to daytrippers.

Hi Eileen, you did opt for the better option, it was bitterly cold. It was quite early in the morning, so "fish and chips" wasn't on the menu, so to speak 😄

Beautiful photos that really show off the cold in the air. The brightness does not hide the chill all around you.

i hope you found a cafe for a hot chocolate at least.

Nice views of the sea, I love being by the sea ... there's nothing like walking along the sands when the tide is out.
It was calm for your walk Kate, but the air must have felt rather chilly. I hope you were wrapped up nice and warm :)

Great photos Kate!
We used to go to Bridlington every year before we started our Norfolk/ Suffolk holidays and one year stayed in a lovely B&B.

Lovely photos, fantastic skies. I can imagine how cold it was, but I think one always feels better for getting outside,
unless caught out in sleet etc. :-)

It looks inviting, even if chilly!

Lovely photos ,hope you were well wrapped up
The skies are beautiful 😻 They will make a lovely water colour painting. Marjorie

Thanks Rose! Don't we have some lovely places on our island! 😊

Thank you, Josee, yes it was bitterly cold, albeit a lovely day at times. I agree, it's good for our minds and body to get out there and brace the freshness!

Thank you, Ange! It did us the world of good!

Thanks, Eileen! Yes...definitely had a warm, tasty drink! In the car mind you.

Thank you, Chris. The skies were too dramatic at times, not to take a pic or 3! Yes, the pics definitely show how bracing and chilly it was.

Thank you, Hywel! Yes, we were wrapped up with all our warm woollies on. I, too, love to stroll on the beach across the sand, in any weather, apart from rain!
Taking in the views and the expanse in front of us. It's quite refreshing and invigorating.

Hi Marjorie, thank you. I thought you'd have your artists head on when you read the blog! Thank you for thinking about the pics and how they could be transformed.

Lovely photo's,Kate, and we have never been to Brid,at this time of year..not brave enough ! .We always visit when we stay in Scarborough, which has been in the last two summers, and they have really made it a lovely place to visit ,as it had got a bit run down over the years, hadn't it ?
It would certainly blow the cobwebs off in that bracing weather..not that you have any,of course ..Lol.Glad you enjoyed your day out.:o) x

We sure do Kate! No need to go abroad, is there!

Thank you, Sandra! Yes, I know what you mean! There are many seaside towns that have gone a little downhill over the years, sadly. I went to Scarborough for the very first time in 2019! I was on the way back from Staithes - which I found disappointing…it wasn’t as picturesque as I’d seen on Pinterest!!!!
I do like Whitby though, first visit there on the same, boiling hot July day!
Friday certainly blew away a lot of cobwebs - it was cold enough! Thanks for messaging. 😊

Beautiful winter pics of Brid Kate. Gorgeous skies and it does look very cold. I do love the south side for walking and the very north end near Sewerby where the kite flyers enjoy a warm.windy day..

Great minds, Sandra! 🇮🇹

Thank you, Janey! I love Sewerby Hall and gardens too, really lovely place to visit. Brid isn’t top of my list, I do prefer Hornsea to be honest. One of my friends lives there and I love it there in summertime….walking the dogs on the beach too.

Those skies are absolutely beautiful … thanks for sharing your bracing walk Kate 🙂. (I’ll have to look up Bridlington on the map - no idea where you are!)

We considered going to [Brid] Bridlington today but decided it was too cold to venture out so I did sewing instead. Its just over 50 mins for me and a little longer for Kate.
Did you get fish and chips? I hope you did, they are usually wonderful.
The South beach is wonderful and sandy. The North beach more rocky.
