Animals in Ukraine.

Just thought I’d share this lovely thing that my friend is doing.
She has asked several of us in our group if we can contribute donations of pet food as she is taking as much as she can collect to one of the local church halls tomorrow evening.
So, after my 2nd yoga class this pm, I popped in to the supermarket and loaded up on pet food.
It’s such a kind thing to do..we forget about all those poor animals out there too.
Anyway, our thoughts are with all Ukrainians..

Yes, it's more than just people isn't it, and it's nice that someone thinks of the poor animals suffering too.

I was very touched by the pictures of the people carrying their beloved pets into foreign countries - it says something important about what sort of people they are. I hope your friend's venture works well - everyone is shocked and horrified by what is going on and not much we can do personally except make donations.

Thank you, Julia. She will definitely be a bonus for the RSPCA. She's had all the induction and checks etc..
Yes, it's horrific what's happening over there, as you say, it's just escalating quickly. My heart goes out to the country.

Thanks kindly for your message too, Hywel. I shall pass on all your thoughts. The animals are often forgotten about. It's got me thinking that if this one place is collecting donations, there must be loads more - which is a very positive thing for the animals out there.

Thanks Ange, it's definitely heartbreaking to see..whether it's adults, children or animals isn't it! What a horrible world at times. I agree, as long as we keep donating and praying for all of them.

It is heartbreaking and as said its not just the humans that are suffering, thankfully there are many people who will donate, its the only way we can help but every little helps....

It was a lovely thing your friend has done and a lot of us probably don't realise about these poor animals suffering too!
I just don't know how this is going to end! It's quite scary!
I feel so sorry for all those people having to lose their homes too!
We don't realise how lucky we are here!

Thanks Sue, it's such a terrible situation out there. Every little bit of help and all that...as you say.
We do forget about the animals at times. Poor things.

Rose, it's very scary thinking about how this will end? Just to imagine if it was us here, uprooting from everything, homes, family, friends, pets...it's not really something you'd want to ever think of having to go through...

That’s so thoughtful and generous of your friend, and of you too. I think we all feel a tiny bit better if we can just contribute something useful … good luck to the venture

Thank you, Sheila, that's very kind of you. Everyone on here has a pet or had a pet in the past...we can empathise to an extent. I know it's hardly the same, but, we are grateful we aren't having to go through what everyone over there is having to go through..
My friend always collects donations, she's got a big heart. Last time, it was toiletries for victims of domestic violence.

I've read that they've just evacuated to safety, some lions & tigers from a zoo. I don't think I can manage to buy a tiger sized meal though, :-) If someone is collecting locally Iwill definitely buy some pet food. Nice that people are taking their pets with them, but I do wonder how many cats etc do get left behind. They are not always a priority in such times.

Thanks for your update too, Josee. Thank goodness efforts are being made for animals of all species! I try to think that cats can be resilient and find food and shelter, dogs not so much sadly...it must be heartbreaking leaving pets, I can't imagine leaving my little Eve. But then I'm not in a war zone. It all seems to be more distressing and frightening every day.
The news pics are so upsetting.

I have passed on everyone's thoughts to her, she's quite humbled.
We're donating again next Friday.
The situation over in Ukraine is going from bad to worse, day to day...

What a fabulous thing to do , My daughter gets upset when she thinks about her 3 lovely Collie dogs being in the same situation , they are so much part of the family ...

Thanks for your comment, Amy. I understand where your daughter is coming from..it sounds crazy, but, the animals/pets are a big part of families worldwide.
We used to have a border collie growing up, Sam, he was adorable..

Thank you, Julia. I thought so too, she is such a big animal lover, plus she has a big heart. She retires next month and starts her new job volunteering at the RSPCA. She can’t wait!
It is something we don’t often think about, the poor, defenceless animals. However, the little children too, that have been killed..just heartbreaking.
