Meandering through the Christmas Market/event.

We took a walk into the centre yesterday morning to check out the Christmas Market or event I’d guess. It’s the 2nd year apparently. It was in and around the Streetlife museum in the Museum Quarter
We weren’t overly impressed.
It didn’t really feel Christmassy, sadly. However, there were several activities for young people to partake in.
I expected stalls wrapped in Holly and evergreen garlands, swathes of tartan cloth and the like.
It felt more like a craft fair. There were a few Christmas baubles for sale, handmade and similar things.
There was a large carousel for the youngsters and some Dickensian dressed people promoting the event. Plus horse and carriage rides around Old Town.
I did want to take some more pics of the gardens, but, there were so may young children playing and running around.
Never mind, we enjoyed the crisp, cool, sunny weather and wrapped up warm, it felt good strolling along with the crowds…

It's certainly a pity, Julia. Not sure why though...

You're right, Josee!!! It's November. It's my birthday tomorrow and I become a little peeved that Christmas is in the shops in September..we haven't had Halloween, Guy Fawkes or my birthday yet!!!!!

Thank you, Davey, that's kind of you.
Crikey, that is early for Christmas decorations isn't it!!!! Is she a person who just loves Christmas? Some do and I've seen trees up and decorations on show this month.

Aw, thanks, Klahanie! That's lovely!
I think you're spot on with your thoughts, definitely too early for me too, it's not the right mood in November.

Kate, you share your birthday with my son and his wife has to wait until after that date to put the Christmas decs up! Personally it's way too early for me to even think of doing that. Two weeks before Christmas is just about right for me.
Have a lovely birthday ... :o))

Oh that's nice. Shirley, same day too! He's probably way younger than me though, by quite a lot!
I think it's right, definitely, that his wife has to wait until after 'our' birthday to put up the Christian tree and decorations π
I'd have to agree, a couple of weeks before the 25th is plenty. Feels more Christmassy then.
Thank you for your lovely birthday wishes! Hope your son has a lovely birthday too x

Aw thank you, Sheila! That's a lovely message! I'm hoping to enjoy a few treats, not too many though, I've yoga tomorrow evening at 7.15pm!
Thanks again for your message x

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Kate.
I know it's still November , but here in the garden centres it has been Christmas for weeks!
It gets earlier every year and when it gets into August and September, some of the shops have the trees and all the Christmas bits on sale!
I can understand why you were disappointed Kate when the advert was for a Victorian Christmas.

Sounds OK to me Sheila!!! Plenty of time :-))
Xx

Aw, bless him, Shirley! I was a 1970 baby. 53 today! 23 feels like yesterday....Time flies...too quickly π

Thanks so much, Rose! π
You're right there, the GC's have had Christmas stuff in their shops for months! Hornsea/Sigglesthorne GC is part of the group including Brigg, and their Christmas shop/display with all the faff was up and running in September!
I find it very disappointing when Christmas gets earlier every year, it seems to take over autumn!
I just wish our little Christmas event had been a bit more Christmassy.

Kate, I know just what you mean about time flies by quickly!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE

It sounds a bit disappointing, but it must have been nice seeing those people in Victorian dress ...

Hope you enjoyed your birthday Kate. I've a feeling things don't seem the same after the pandemic, but maybe it's just a little bit early for a lot of decorations as yet? Saying that our village Christmas tree has been up for over a week, and it does look so pretty!

I didn't realise it was your birthday Kate, I'm sending belated greetings :)

Thank you, Josee π

Thank you, Paul, π!
Yes, a lot of popular places or events in the year can be packed out with people. I found this one last weekend seemed fairly reasonably priced.
We don't have far to walk to Old Town, fortunately! Half hour and we're there!!!!

Thanks Janey, I do agree, things haven't really been the same since the pandemic. Life has definitely changed, in entirety. There's definitely that feeling..
I do think it's too early for Christmas decorations, but, I did see a few trees up at windows yesterday and outdoor lights now switched on for the festive season!!!!

Thank you kindly, Hywel π
