Visit to an urban park

This park is in downtown Victoria (a Capital of British Columbia on Vancouver Island) It is about 40 minutes drive from where we live. Sometimes when we go down to Victoria to shop we stop and go for a little walk there.

There are few nice lagoons with ducks , geese, few herons and turtles but we did not see any turtles this year.

People throwing around seeds and nuts despite signs not to feed them.

There are several peacocks running around. This one was posing for me :-)

The park is well maintained and this year their borders were very colourful. We had a nice warm summer but not any rain and despite of that their borders looked very happy and the grass everywhere was lush green ….which points to the fact that they have an underground watering system.

The photos are not really in any order as the park is fairly big and we almost always lose our way around looking where we parked our car. :-)

Nice border in front of the Service building.

Park has lots of specialty trees

Big old cedar

The place was well attended with some sport facilities and kids playgrounds. Many families taking their grandparents out for a picnic.
We usually have only limited time to spend there but it is always a pleasure to visit

what a super park and so well maintained. The planting is very pretty and clearly well thought out. as you say a lovely place to go with the family for a picnic etc.
There are always some that ignore the do not feed signs.

At our local seaside it is the herring gulls that plague us. They are so bold now they will actively steal food from your hands. People still feed them chips etc. Poor birds on a fast food diet.

It does look a smashing place to visit and enjoy Klahanie. Love the lagoons and huge trees. Also, that is a gorgeous standard red rose. I can imagine family's would spend a whole day there..

I enjoyed taking a walk with you round that fabulous park Klahanie.
You are so lucky to have somewhere close by to visit.
I couldn't say which I loved the best as I loved it all.
Thank you for sharing.

That's a fabulous place to visit, Klahanie! I could have spent a whole weekend there - & still wanted to see more! 👏

Your very first photo reminded me of a Liquidamber tree I saw in Cambridge Botanical gardens years ago! The view was very similar!

What a stunning park and a lovely place for a picnic, the weeping tree over the lake is beautiful, we have the same problem with gulls in the southwest, they actively steal food from people, whether eating outside in a cafe or just walking along, I find it really annoying when people feed them as they will be the first to moan when the bird tries to steal food from them
