Crunch,crack, split!

Oh dear, was it only the other day when I told the story of our rustic bench, the one that has been repaired over and over again. Well, this afternoon after hours of gardening Jim made us both a cup of coffee which we were going to drink sitting on the bench. When he sat down there was a loud crack as another part of the bench split. This time it was the support that held the seat up but we hadn`t noticed it was rotting away because it was underneath. Never mind though, Jim is going to replace it and it will be as good as new, well it more or less IS a new bench now…lol!

Going back to the hours spent in the garden. I arrived home from work at 2pm to find that Jim had installed the new raised bed for me. I was very pleased that he`d done it for me as I was absolutely shattered after a busy morning at the garden centre. Apart from serving I was lifting bags of compost into customers cars and to say my back is a bit sore is an understatement.

Heuchera `Marmalade`

Heuchera `Georgia Peach`

Heuchera `Blackbird`

Heuchera `Midnight Rose`, one of my special favourites

Heuchera `Peach Flambe`

Heuchera `Can`t remember I`m afraid` lol!

This cordyline is starting to flower for the first time.

Aquilegia, unknown variety

Aquilegia `Purple Emperor`*

New raised bed planted with sprouts, my favourite veggies

The view down the garden from the back door

Heuchera `Palace Purple`

I did have a photo of Heuchera `Creme Brulee` but I seemed to have lost it somewhere between downloading it to transferring it here. never mind I can take another one later. I forgot to take a photo of Heuchera `Sugar Frosting` and I`ve already posted `Stoplight`. I`m always on the lookout for new varieties apart from the bright green ones that always remind me of lettuces…lol!

It seems the weather is warming up and temperatures will be back to `normal` by the weekend. I wonder if it will be safe to move some of the plants out of the greenhouse? Hmm…I`ll most likely wait until the end of the month just to be on the safe side.

I`ve been wondering, are there any plants you particularly dislike and would never have in your garden? My own no-no`s are Leucanthemums and Margarites because of their awful smell. Leucanthemums are beautiful but must be the most dreadful smelling flower ever, in my opinion. Tell me, what are your pet hates and why.

RSJ for the garden bench Sandra ? I love your growing collection of Heucheras and I keep thinking of having them in wall 'half baskets' this year. Will re-read Vickys blog on them in a minute.

I can't think of any I don't like, but there are some I wouldn't have because of their size . At one time I didn't like roses and got rid of them all from my garden lol. I've changed my mind now :o)

Love the heuchera collection - I lost Georgia Peach this winter so am going to try Peach Flambe instead. The aquilegia looks like a biedermeier hybrid. I hope Jim didn't hit the deck, LOL. Pet hate? - French marigolds, in fact most marigolds though I appreciate their usefulness (to other people).
