Change Over In The G'houses

My tomato plants had started showing their roots again and needed potting on, now I really do not see the point in repotting lots of times as I use the rings and have done for many years, its been another warm day and none of my plants would come to any harm sitting outside in the sunshine, so I set to and emptied the top g’house, then removed the bottom shelving, dug over the beds and topped up with fresh homemade compost…

Rings in place, topped up with new compost and toms set, about 3hrs later and jobs a goodun…

Fuschia’s and trailing plants back in place..

Trays of more seedlings returned..

The cucumbers also safely back indoors, they can stay where they are for now, they will be transferred to the bottom g’house, when I have the time to get that one sorted, the tiny one turned up in a tray of zinnia’s, very surprised and pleased to find it as my first sowing had completely failed, I must have dropped that seed amongst the compost in my sowing tray, I have sown more in my propagator as well as some G’Delight toms……
The bottom g’house as you can see is filling up daily, woe betide any snails that think they are having a feast….

Of course we have to show the flowers again..

All in all not a bad days work and I even had an audience in the sky..

Think they were making sure I was behaving myself as they were hovering over us for a very long time…

Excellent job! Now, a qu. For you...what size of pot do you think I'll need for my cordons? I can't use the rings as I don't have soil in my greenhouse, but I prefer pots to ugly grow bags.

I certainly picked the right day as regards weather, its really cold here today,so apart from the watering I guess its housework day, lol.....
Karen the bigger, the better in my opinion at least 12", I never use growbags now because they do dry out so quickly but over the years have collected some very large tubs that I use, my cucumbers are grown in reusable growbags, the ones I have are very strong, I've had them about 4yrs, they came complete with plant supports, hold plenty of compost, I just wash them when plants finish, check out the Quadrow Tomato Planter, I was reading about them but as I'm rarely away from home I don't think I really need them, lol.....

Stera I am bushed today and housework does not seem appealing at all, lol, the plant is actually a pale blue, think it came out white cos I probably had wrong camera setting, I do that sometimes, typically never had the full name on label when I got it......

Steve I am sitting today between jobs as I'm indoors, if I don't get the dusting done I'll blame you, lol....
Sandra and Jane, I'm not really organised, I'm a clutter collector to my shame, as to my garden being tidy, you don't get to see my hidden corners, the weeds aren't growing again yet, lack of rain but I tend to fill up any spaces and crowd them out, lol.

L.lass..I was so exhausted after yesterday's hard day in the garden..I spent all afternoon in bed asleep! Why don't we learn eh?

17 Apr, 2015

Housework Sue? I can always find some good reason not to do it...

Hope you feel better tomorrow Bloomer :)

Sue I envy you you are very methodical in work ethic, what a great job you have done in the organisation of your Greenhouses and I love the flower bed outside your Greenhouse. I tend to flit about between different areas and never getting one area completley finished.
I have been out all afternoon trimming the grass all around the verges, looking good now but it will want doing again next week! Achey knees and back now, but must take a picture now its finished, just to remind me how good it looks after all my efforts;0) Sandra like you I feel whacked tonight, hope its nice tomorrow then I can maybe sit a while and admire lol

My mum used to say if you ache after a hard days work then go out and do it again, it works it out of your system, I am of the same mind and always find it more tiring being indoors, hence the mega down during the winter months, I've always got more energy when in the garden...

Lol,Karen..I managed to stay awake for Masterchef,so I had a good nights sleep..I got so much done yesterday,so we might have a day off today, and go out..OH started repainting the fence..while I had a good clear out,and also scrubbed pots out,and a path ! ..need to pay a visit to the tip now :o)..Carole,It's quite cool this morning,so I don't think it will be a sitting out day..back on your knees,my girl, and work the pain off Lol.

looks great - I am using growbags in my greenhouse because the oh said to, they worked ok last year with cucumbers in them so I didn't argue. have got my water butt set up so no carrying water and will keep them well watered. The flower beds are lovely with all the spring flowers in them, great job done Lincslass. \;o0

Pansy I do admire nicely trimmed edges around a lawn but I cannot keep them looking good, I simply have definitely not got the patience for them, I got fedup years ago with having them all broken and raggedy and placed edging stones around, now I strim and mow straight across the top, its a good job really as I cannot kneel much now, thinking about the bachache that comes with that job I applaud you.
I also flit from job to job when in my garden, always have done, problem with that is I forget where I've popped my handtools, lol.....

Olive I can't fix waterbutt kits to my g'houses as neither has guttering but do have them off my sheds, to save my shoulders I stand old dustbins close to my top house hidden away in the dogrun. I love the springtime colours, even the roses are budding up and some blossom on the plum tree, bit cool again today so might end up in the g'house pricking out and putting the world to rights again :O))

Well done Lincs .
Such a busy time for us all ! I think that it was easier going to work ; we didn't expect so much of ourselves in the garden (well I didn't anyway ).
It's so lovely now to be able just to get out and do , I have really missed all that more than ever this winter !
