More Changes and Improvements...

Busy making good use of a really lovely day, first I moved my compost bins further down the garden, one was nearly empty so it was just a case of moving said compost from one to the other, I like to turn it twice a year, it was steaming so going to be perfect next year..I’m putting a piece of trellis in to hide the bins but that will be a job for another day..
Then I decided it was too nice for housework so thought I’d titivate a bit, now that never works out when I have something in mind that needs changing…
Ignore the white edging I moved them last week, this time it was the turn of my Abelia, she has to go as I want to see the rose garden from my seat on the patio, pleased to say that shrub is not deep rooted so was quite easy to move, the hardest part was digging the hole to replant as the other side of my footpath is dog playing area, hasn’t had compost added, its hard clay and stone but as you can see I did manage…
Hardly any grass growing as I’ve been moving the dogs paddling pool up and down all summer, it will all grow back again, happens every year…
That led to other ideas, I decided to move some of the tall plants and reroute the little stone wall, also added another paving slab to make the opening wider where we step off the lawn…

Anget all the dahlias are from a packet named Cactus Mixed Variety they are all really lovely and there's about five different ones, yellows, reds orange, purple and pink, I also supplied my daughter so pleased with the results....

Sue, you've still got loads of colour in your garden, fabulous. Well done on digging that hole too!

Thanks, Lincs, I will search them out for next year. My singles from seed have been lovely, too. Reappeared for their second year after I was too lazy to dig them out last Autumn!

Lots of colour still in your garden, sit down and enjoy it a little.

Shirley its amazing considering how long the plants went without water, I believe that has caused so many of the spring flowers to think winter has come and gone, I have primroses and wallflowers in full bloom, some hellebores have been flowering since July strange year isn't it...

Thankyou Siris, rain stopped play for today so I did get to relax, lol....

It's good you have compost bins, I used to make it maybe I'll start again next year.
I hope your Abelia settles in to its new home. I think they're pretty shrubs.
Your garden is very colourful :)

I like all the changes you have already made in your garden,Sue.,and I'm sure you will be glad you got it done whilst the good weather was with us..
You still have lots of lovely colour too, which we are so lucky to have this year, aren't we? I do love your Dahlia's,and are those Gazania's,in one of your photo's ?..they are stunning ! Look forward to your next project, but do try and chill out in between ..Lol xx

Thankyou Hywel, its rained ever since the Abelia was relocated, doesn't seem to have noticed its moved. lol, no signs of wilting leaves so think she'll be fine...

Thanks Sandra, yes I'm relieved as its rained every day since so I am chilling out, lol, they are Gazania's, like everything else they are huge this year and no signs of slowing down, hoping the next project is to finally get rid of my mostly dead conifers near the bottom pond, next years job I think, saying that hubby has mentioned them so he is keeping them in mind, don't want to cut them down and then be left with all the remains for months, might need a skip methinks...

It's wonderful to see how your garden is coming along! You have some very nice plants in the garden! :)

Sue, I am exhausted and that's just reading the amount of work you've carried out!
I only spent sometime tidying things up in the garden the other day and I was worn out!
You've still got loads of colour haven't you?
So when does the skip arrive lol???!!

Hello Sue, I am wondering why I can't see the pictures on your page and also all the rest of the chat about your garden. There are no pictures anywhere on any blogs or members pictures! Is it just my page, do you think?
I have asked the question on a blog but no replies yet.

Rose, I have read your question and left an answer for you. Good luck!

lovely garden

It happened to Waddy last week Rose, I think it must be your browser, can you change to Microsoft Edge, it seems to work fine for most of us..

Hello Sue..I have my pictures back and thanks for your advice.
Your garden looks so colourful and love all your plants. What was the climbing plant and is it hardy?
You are so like me, I can never wait to do a job! If it's in my head, then I have to do it! I like what you have done up to now where your green house was. I miss having all the land that we had at Willow Cottage but can still find changes to do in this garden.

That's good Rose, so pleased I carried on as it's rained continuously every day since, did exactly the same thing last year so hoping it's not a sign of what to expect for the rest of the year, I'm sat watching the leaves turn yellow on my hibiscus, would need my wellies just to walk down the yard sigh.. If you mean the climber just down from my Abelia in the side garden, it's Boston Ivy, needs a new support as the obelisk has broken off at the base, its leaning on the fence, not supposed to be, cannot put a new one in place until I can see the stems, always a job to do around here....

Would love to coment Lincs but like Rose I have no pictures and part of the narrative is over riding other parts.

Oh dear Stroller, lets hope yours goes right soon, its affecting quite a few members...

Linclass, You still have a lovely lot of colour in your garden. Very vibrant.
Stroller, and anyone else who has had their pictures disappear. It happened to me some weeks ago and someone advised to change the browser. It seems google chrome, which I had been using, was blocking it somehow.
I have not had any problems since changing it back to Microsoft edge, which came installed, but it seems much slower!! But that is another matter!:)

Have changed it to Microsoft edge from google chrome but its still not working.

I am now on Firefox, Stroller and I have my pictures back! Maybe you could try that!
Sue, I was getting mixed up with the Hibiscus as it looke like it was climbing!

Thanks Rose I`m now on Firefox and am back to normal.
Lincs your a Lady after my own heart ... get an idea in my head and it has to be done. I`m sure the Abelia will be fine in its new place its such a rewarding shrub seems to flower for ever. You still have plenty of lovely plants in your garden providing you will lots of colour and interest. My new project is enlarging the pond I`ve been doing it a little at a time since the middle of September, just hope I haven`t bitten of too much. Taking pics as I go a long so will make a blog when I finish.

Glad to hear that Firefox has helped some of you to view the pages correctly! I have had no problems at all using Firefox & I have several adblockers installed as well! These did cause me some problems a couple of years ago but once I whitelisted GoY I have had no more trouble!

Stroller its partly down to your influence many years back that has given me the confidence to move things when I want to, you are also the lady that saved my Red Robin, only in its second year when the dogs destroyed more than half of it, I loved yours so turned it into a standard, its thrived ever since, little bit of a wonky trunk but I love it.....

Makes me tired just reading about the amount of work done! There is a huge amount of colour still left in your garden. I particularly love the single orange dahlia.
