Soggy and a bit Battered but still colourful.....

After all those months without rain we’re now making up for it, the lawns badly need a haircut but too wet to even attempt that, been unwell for a couple of weeks, I’m afraid with that, plus the wet and warmth encouraging the grass, its still growing like mad, will take some work cutting it, never mind aye!.. I will get around to doing them… I did manage between showers to cut back the Virginia Creeper in the long border this morning and clear away the soggy leaves and all the tendrils, now I can walk down the footpath without danger of slipping…
Look how bare it is, that is how much room the ivy takes up when it thickens out, I need grass seed..
There are lots of bare patches to sort out, below is my Abelia, I was beginning to think there would be no white bracts to admire this year but she is running late ..
I did consider digging all the grass out to plant between the shrubs as I did with the bottom half but that is where Harriet and Pepper go to converse with the Yorkshire Terriers that live next door, plants would not stand a chance and I would be forever yelling at them to come off the garden, it would not be fair to them would it, why have pets if I don’t share with them., whilst they are running in and out on this area they are staying off the rest, which is to my way of thinking a good thing..
Might have lost out in the summer but autumn flowers are still doing me proud and giving plenty of colour..
Enjoy your gardens folks……

It is still looking lovely, Sue. Lots of very pretty roses. You've a very pretty display of colour as yet, hard to believe it's now November.
We could hear the deluge on the leisure centre roof last night as we finished yoga. Then again tonight, I see it's raining again.

Wonderful splashes of colour. Across the pond where I am for the next 7 day forecast temperature highs will be above 21C/ 70F. It will be interesting to see what flora and fauna will get fooled into perceiving that spring has returned.

Still a colourful flourishing garden, Lincs. We are being buffetted by high winds again this pm. Lots of rain here too over the last few days. You made me smile with your comments about the dogs. Our cats have decided that the g'house is just for their convenience while it's raining etc so both have beds on the staging now. Even our cat visitor cosies down in there with them, too, at the moment.

Your garden still looks so colourful Sue!
We have had rain here for days! It starts off fooling us with a sunny morning, then by mid morning it becomes dark and then the rain comes and has been doing this for days now.
We hadn't put the heating on, but ended up putting it on to dry the clothes that I had been hanging out and bringing in again wet!

Thankyou all of you for the comments, its continuing to rain every day and most nights, typical isn't it, (Rose my washing comes out of the machine and straight into the tumble dryer) my plans for the future have gone from creating a drought garden to a paddy field yet again, the furniture is covered with blankets as is the carpet and I have a lovely muddy pattern all across the patio doors, its a good job I'm not obsessive...Wow !!!... The sun is coming out , I'm going to don my wellies, take my trusty snippers out to do some deadheading and see if I find some more surprises in the garden..

How about that, I managed about half an hour, did get the roses and dahlias deadheaded and a few weeds pulled, didn't manage a photo but Iceberg is amass with flowers and Handel has lots of buds ready to open, plus a lovely patch of honeysuckle that smells divine as I walk past, suns lost out to the clouds and I've retreated inside for a coffee, wishful thinking that its only a shower, we shall see...

Hi M'land, you are not kidding, we get a stream running down the garden and a lake in the yard, the water from next door all collects in ours as they are a couple of feet higher than us, I know we were desperate for weeks but its made up for it now so a respite from it would be nice, the flowers are lasting well, I continue to deadhead each day, thankfully apart from the tulips I did plant my bulbs a few weeks back so don't have to get all muddied up doing that job, I'm chuffed with myself as I've even been out and cut the lawn today....
