March In My Garden and I'm Out of a Action....

Sorry for not being around, I’m suffering with a bad eye, got another ulcer in the left one, for a while I was in bed as pain in my head and eye was really bad when I wasn’t laying down, I’m on steroids and its getting better but very slowly, now I’m up and about again but daren’t go outside for more than a few mins at a time especially today as its very windy……Last weeks snow was a definite no for me..

I did nip out to water my seedlings in the greenhouse so naturally I wandered around with my camera, I needed some fresh air was my excuse and was only out for a few mins anyway, despite being covered in a white blanket last week my daffs are now back to looking good, I half expected some of them to be broken but they had bounced back..

As you can see the frogs have also decided its springtime and doing what comes naturally..

Even the Marsh Marigolds are beginning to strut their stuff…

That has stopped me in my tracks for a while as regards the gardening, eyes are too precious to take any chances with so I’m being good and admiring from indoors……

sorry to hear you are 'hors de combat' and I hope you are soon back up and at it so to speak.

It always amazes me how quickly plants recover from the ice and snow.
the garden is looking lovely.

Thankyou ladies, its taking so long to clear but no headaches now, I've reached the frustrated time, its looks so lovely outside and I'm hankering to go outside and get my hands dirty, I daren't do that yet but at least I can go down to my g'house and shut myself in out of the wind, my seedlings are coming along nicely and tomorrow I have some Doronicum plug plants arriving so they will need potting up, I still have half of my seeds to sow from out of my gift sack but I decided I needed a treat...

I do hope that you recover quickly Links and your early season garden looks great. I suffered a retinal hemorrhage in my right eye a while back which has required me to get monthly shots in my eyeball of a medicine which is restoring my eyesight. My eye is very sensitive to the cold air for several days after the shot so what I do is wear a eyepatch when I go out to the garden or walk the dogs. So for those several days I fancy myself to be a pirate:)

sorry for your pain first of all , wishing you a speedy recovery! The tiniest little plntsd somehow come back strong which is wonderful. Your plants are looking full of colour , especially the photinia . Glad you have spawn, our frogs not getting into it yet . Keep warm which is not easy so far this spring .

I’m sorry to hear your having serious issues with your eyes, Sue. An ulcer too. I do feel for you, and you’re right, eyes are precious - definitely not worth risking further harm.
I see you’ve endured a covering of thick snow recently too! Thankfully, everyone who seems to have had a flurry of the white stuff, hasn’t had it for long.
Your garden is flourishing with Spring colour. Your Photinia is so vibrant! It definitely stands out. I wish we had frogs visiting our pond, sadly, we’ve never been fortunate…
Keep safe and well, Sue. Sending my best wishes x

L'strife thankyou, its a joy to see all the colour coming back even if its only from my windows, our wintry conditions have returned so its too wet to be in the garden anyway.. I hope your treatment continues to work, you have my sympathy, my ulcers are also in the retina, I 've had problems for over twenty years now, usually I recognize the symptoms so get treatment quickly enough to stop one forming but wasn't so lucky this time, I'm always sensitive to the wind, my vision blurs and sunlight is a no go without my Varilux lenses, everything goes black when going from shade into sunlight... I 'll have to send for an eyepatch then I can be a pirate also in the garden also, lol...

Sue, I'm not sure how I missed this blog, late to the party! You sound very positive despite your eye problems, and I would like to say thanks for sharing your lovely photos of your Springtime garden. You have a lot going on, flora and fauna with the frogspawn too!

I have an image of you now, eyepatch, parrot on the shoulder etc.!! You take care of yourself ... :o)

Thankyou all for your lovely comments, sorry I haven't answered all of you individually but the white of the page really aggravates my eye, unfortunately I cannot change it..Pleased to say my eye is much improved and today for a long time it does not feel as though something is in it, that is definitely progress....

Its all been said but still sending heaps of sympathy from Wales too. Eyes are so precious, they do need looking after. Have you tried reading through sunglasses to cut out the glare?

I am late again Sue and have just found your blog!
I hope you are feeling much better now.
Your garden looks very spring like and love your photinia.
Mine always seems to get black spot every year.
Also, is that the viburnham that is cut back when it had a disease?
Enjoy looking at your garden while you recover instead of working out there!

I'm sorry to hear about your eye and head problems Sue, I do sympathize. The cold has affected my eye too, still numb areas on my head, have steroid cream for a red patch on my forehead..Oh joy!
But...your garden is waking up, all the signs of new life and lots to look forward to.
Take care, we must look after our vision..x
