Barnsdale Gardens.

A couple of weeks back my daughter and I treated ourselves to a blissful few hours freedom and took ourselves up to Geoff Hamiltons pride and joy.
Where was my camera ? , on the worktop at home ,never mind ! !,between her camera and my mobile we managed to get a few photo,s…….
The veggies are looking great, you get to taste if you eat in the tearooms.

Lots of gardens to wander and admire

They have Water gardens,Stream & Bog gardens.Japanese garden,Woodland ,Wildlife ,Formal Pond & Knot garden, and many more…….

the Reclaimation Garden has an appeal I really liked..

There are loads more and we could have stayed a lot longer but rain stopped play (as usual) so it was lunch in the tearooms and off to the plant nursery and shop, but one last garden to see before we left……

You have to pay a visit to the late Geoff Hamilton………..

Geofff was the TV gardener who really got me 'hooked' on gardening, I remember how upset I was for weeks after he died. He was a 'real' gardener, not a media personality like so many of those who came after him. I have a 'Geoff Hamilton' rose in my garden, and it was planted to keep him in mind. I don't think 'Gardener's World' has been the same since he went.

You did really well with the cameras ( or lack thereof! ) and I really enjoyed the blog. Thank you so much, lincslass!

A delightful tour Lincslass thank you,if you go back again will you ask them for me how they grow cabbages out in the open like that without them being absolutely ravaged by caterpillars?

I'll agree with all the others and say of all the tv gardeners he was the easiest to watch and did get down and get his hands dirty. My favourite as well.

I went there several years ago and loved it to bits - seeing all the gardens he had created over the years. The Reclamation Garden was one of his last projects before he died. My favourites were the Artisan's cottage garden and the Rose Garden. I would love to go again one of these days and see the memorial garden.

Lovely blog, thanks Lincslass ....I loved Geoff Hamilton...:>)

Forgot to mention, I think that the roses planted around the sculpture of Geoff ARE 'Geoff Hamilton'......they'd have to be, really, wouldn't they? It's a nice, upright, strong rose but has a horrible habit of 'balling up' in the rain and then the flowers rot rather than open. Worth growing in a drier climate than ours!

I too loved Geoff and thought he knew gardenening through loving it and doing it.
To me gardeners world this year is really poor.
