Morgan`s home

Relieved and happy to say we have Morgan home again, he has a special food for a while and the rule is little and often and loads of tablets for a while,( now that could prove interesting), one of his legs and paw is very swollen but apparently nothing to worry about, its the leg that had the drip in and he has a white bandage to prove he`s a wounded but brave boy……
As if to prove how naughty he can be, whilst my daughter was paying the bill in reception Morgan pinched a chew bone off the counter, luckily the vet is more forceful than us and managed to take it away from him, he does not give up chew bones very easily……lol. Happy to be home and fast asleep………- 3 Oct, 2009

I have never had a problem giving tablets..just open their mouth and put them down their throats..I give baby aspirin and glucosamine to Sofie for her arthritis..and bad hip..have to get your finger in the place at the back of the teeth where the joint is..do the same with my horse...and then rub under their chin on the neck..to make them swallow..lol..used to rub my children under there to make them swallow too when giving medicine. Trick given by my grandfather to my mother.

Thanks all, very pleased to say that Morgan is doing well although we do have fun and games with the tablets,he is very sleepy, but that is probably a good thing Ollie our black cat is sleeping next to Morgan which is lovely to see as Ollie has been lost without Malik and in actual fact has been refusing to come in since his best pal went away, its almost as though he is making sure he doesn`t lose another pal..........

Awwwww....that's so sweet! He's looking after Morgan!
Henry wouldn't like it - he's not used to cats here...he chases them out of 'his' garden!
He has an uneasy 'truce' with our daughter's cat when we stay with her. He's very good, though - Pete goes into his bed, and he allows him to! :-))
As to the pills - try garlic pate with the pill pushed inside a piece. Henry is dreadful at taking his worming pills - he spits them out! The pate works every time!

So pleased you have Morgan home :o) xxx
The leg bandage is normal procedure...
Conker comes home from the vet clinic every week with a different coloured bandage, which is just a precaution against swelling, and to hold a dressing on the site of the bleeding from the needles...
Has the leg swelling subsided now ?

Its still a wee bit swollen Terra but he lets us massage it thats what the vet told us to do......

So pleased he's home now.....bless him.
My trick with pills is to crush them (used to use 2 spoons until I saw the suggestion on here of pestle and mortar! ~ so quick and easy!) and then I put them in a small amount of pilchards in tomato sauce. Strong smell and flavour to disguise the medication, plus they are good for you...or the dog!

Oooh!! Henry would love that! ;-))

Morgan will enjoy that massage... seems like his leg will be back to the right shape by tomorrow. :o) x
