paintings for Easter for church

Your church will be so beautiful for Easter! Well done with the Acrilics. I'm not very fond of them myself. Think I'll stick to watercolours and oils...if I ever get the brushes out again!

Thanks Cottagekarer. The colours are so vibrant compared with watercolours. Perhaps one day you will get the brushes and paints out again. I used to paint with oils but haven't the room to let them dry out here. You need another space to put them don't you.

that's something I wish I could do. I love painting but it never looks like the real thing. very pretty plaques.

Thankyou Seaburngirl. Painting is an art form so it doesn't have to be the right colour, or look like an exact photo, or form, it's an expression of what you are looking at or how you want to create the picture. Just paint and enjoy it. There is always someone who will love the way you paint. If people criticise it at least they are looking at it and seeing it from a different perspective. The more you paint the free-er your artwork will become....so go for it.

It's strips of knitting that decorates things, and can be placed over tree branches etc. We just want some colour.

Lovely paintings Lindak. I wonder if you are following the art show on tele. I have looked in on a couple of them. I do find heavy criticism of artwork very intimidating. A little too competive I think, with an elimination each time. Why not have an art show at the end and let the public choose their favourite and the experts theirs? I never got to grips with acrylics Lindak. My favourite is coloured pencils+water colour. Thinking of asking the fellas next door for a sprig or two off their very huge Magnolia to have a go at. I'll have to have a go if they let me cut some bits off it! So pleased to know your church is flourishing. Friends at Melksham find their church is running down like clockwork...a strange and overworked lady vicar may be the reason. They were unlucky. The church is so beautiful too

Hi Dorjac, I do watch the art show and the judges are a bit heavy on the comments. I think that they could be more encouraging. Everyone tackles their artwork differently in the way they express themselves on to the canvas or paper. A picture doesn't have to look like a photograph. I hope you have fun having a go at the magnolia. We have a new minister starting after Easter.

Chris next door gave me 2 cuttings off the Magnolia and I have managed to put them both in the picture in a big sketch book. I put the first one I drew in a photo on the end of my last blog. The tree is now in full bloom on this bright and sunny day.
