Mandy (Amanda) Nov. 1997 – June 16, 2011
Our girl was with us for a good long life. For one of her breed she lived to the human equivalent of 88 years.
We have such a hole in our hearts and our days seem a bit aimless. It’s very close to losing a beloved child. How we will miss her.
She walks the happy hunting ground…and howls at another moon! Hope to see you again someday, our Mandy.

Thank you Amy.. one such memory:
We lived in the far North, in Moosonee, Ont. and we had to take the train and then drive about 6 hours to get to my hometown in Muskoka...On one such trip we stopped en route and bought a box of donuts.. then we stopped a second time in North Bay to go into the mall for a short visit...when we came back to the van (the two dogs were happy to see us return so soon), Terry opened the passenger door and saw that the donut box was open on the floor and empty. Reflexively he said: What happened to the donuts?...and from the back of the van there was a very loud lusty burp from Mandy! Guilty as charged! She was such a character...

This is one of the reasons that I continue to post and converse on this terrific site. While the sense of loss we are feeling is most acute, it's been a source of comfort for Terry and I to read your kind comments.

Lori....I'm sorry to read that you have lost your lovely companion, Mandy. I'm pleased though that she had a very happy life with you and even got to move to the new property and explore some of the area with you on your rambles.
I know you will miss her a lot....and I bet when you are out on your rambles you will sometimes feel she is still walking along with you. Pets become very close to us and give us so much love. RIP Mandy.

Aww.. thank you, Jacquie. She was one in a million. Still miss her but as the weeks pass the grief is becoming less acute...she gave us so many wonderful memories.

Dear Lori, I'm so sad for you, people come and go every day, but your pets are always there with you, and when they're not around, nothing feels the same. It'll take a little time, but while the pain eases, you'll never forget them, or the memories. Take care.x
