Mad max bird table

Been a bit stressed out this week as i have been finding dead birds around the garden.Having checked that i havent put something in the bird feeder or in my garden which could kill them.Which i found i havent.I decided to sit and wait from 4am and feed the birds at 5am like i normally do.This was the worst part a neighbouring cat jumped up and caught another bird. Please bear in mind my bird feeder is 6ft tall.I have posted pictures before with a cat on my bird box.Now its war.I have seen at least 4-5 different cats over the last few weeks.I know i do treat my birds with all kinds of fattening foods ,i do not want to harm the cats in anyway so hence for my mad max defense which are cat and pigeon deterents. They cannot harm in anyway. As they have got soft rounded tips and they are made of a bendy plastic.
I spent this months gardening budget on buying cat/animal repellents (sonic devises etc)If you can think of any kind way of keeping the cats away from my bird house it would be appreciated.:))))
I also found my solar powered frog water feature destroyed after the cats knocked it off.:(((((
Demolished mad max bird table.Bird table number 2 on its way.
Bird table number 2 finally complete and very cat friendly.:))))

no silly, peel them and cut them in half, the birds won't eat them, I bought cat repellent and it did no good at all.even spent a fortune on cat plants, again a waste of time, we have lots of cats here, seems every house has a cat, a woman at the top of the road has over 20,

Vaseline on the pole apparently stops squirrels, they also have those dome shaped plastic deterrents to stop them - not sure if it would work for a cat? Only other option is you have everything 6 foot from the ground? Nothing lower??

Sorry to say this but I think your stand is to blame. The top of your stand may be 6ft tall but the feed trays are not? I also think the shape of your stand with its arms is easier for cats to grip and get up and the lower feeding tray is too low and makes a good perch. I have a straight stand and the tray is over 5ft from the ground this more proven design does work better.

looks like another garden project for you mark, what is the white needle looking things, is that to stop the cats also,

Not too sure - what I did was put the table with lots of prickly evergreens - conifers Junipers are good for detering too - cats are not keen on roaming through tough plants - maybe plant holly around it - and ground covering evergreens like this - thus birds will like this and cats detered with no harm - leave a clear way to table on tallest part:)))

Good idea Paul, prickly plants!

I had to plant them around pond Lulu for detering cats trying to nick fish and didn't want one falling in either - juniper conifer and my hollies did the trick - :)))))

ooh i think that looks lethal..like Drc i think it would be better to get another birdhouse maybe one on a metal pole & as Stickitoffee says try vaseline on the pole.

I agree with Drc and Joanella, new bird table and prickley plants round it.

As said a new bird table, as the one you have got they will use it like a ladder to get at the bird,s. I have two shepherd crook type pole's in metal that I use to hang my feeder's from.It is the bird bath that I have to watch Ollie as he has a hidy hole under the bush and watches them getting a drink and a wash.

I am trying to visualize a cat sliding down a pole covered with vaseline!!! I used to put vaseline and or vick on plastic to deter the slugs, I had forgotten about that trick! Cost a fortune in vick!

Hi I have bought a metal spike feeder for the birds it just sticks in the ground and as metal arms branching off it at virious angles and height and I have the plastic bird feeders dangling from each arm the cats cannot climb the metal post cheers
