Returning to painting during the Winter months.

After much thought,I’ve decided to find my water colour paints and return to art……the garden is slowing down here and the dark, dismal months of January and February will soon be on us…….
There are a few artists on GOY who probably paint throughout the year which I wish I could also do……my garden is quite high maintenance due to my own fault(too eager to fill it with yet another plant!)During the summer months it takes up nearly all my time.
The photo I’ve included is my last water colour of the River Wye.Having spent all my childhood by the sea,it’s the tranquillity of rivers that attracts and inspires me.

That is truly lovely, Julia! I know how difficult it can be to represent water, but you have done it brilliantly . . . thanks so much for showing us.

Very lovely and such a beautiful choice of calming colours. My mum had the same love of rivers as you do and she too grew up by the coast!
Please share any future paintings with us.

Wordsworth wold have loved your beautiful paintings of the Wye. He was very fond of the place and with good reason!
Agree with Wildrose, rivers are great - something for every mood. Wish I could paint!

It's a beautiful painting. I love the colours and mistiness of it, it's just like autumn should be :)
I paint and draw but I'm like you though, high maintenance garden which takes so much time in spring and summer !

I like to paint/draw castles, old churches etc. Maybe I'll show some of them when I get a few finished :)

I empathize with you. Miss the garden so much in the winter, then miss the painting in the summer. For quite a few years, it was paint, paint, paint but the last ten, garden, garden, garden. I think the garden gives immediate joy and then some, while the painting can be frustrating, annoying and then JOY. Keep doing both is the answer, I guess.

Julia....I am so glad you have taken out your brushes again...that is a very beautiful and skilled painting! I myself am inspired by Woodland and woodland creatures. But your love of tranquil river scenes is evident in your work! I very much look forward to seeing the next work!

You are very talented Meadow, enjoy your painting while the garden isn't a distraction.
