Sunday drive out in North Wales

Bank Holiday Sunday sunshine ideal weather for a trip to my favourite garden centre in Corwen to browse around their lovely plants and lunch too!
A pyramid of golden Heucheras – Fire Chief and Peach Flambe
A black grass with a bad hair day!
I needed to replant my stone sink the alpine garden I had created a few years ago had gone rather wild, fox gloves had seeded themselves in it – hardly an Alpine look, so I bought 3 plants Dolesperma cooperii, Helianthamum the Bride and Achilla Huterii plus a bag of grit, had a lovely lunch sitting out in the sunshine – perfect.
En route home I stopped to admire the bluebells amassed on the hillside amid the gorse and under the trees – just love this view on the A5104 near Bryneglwys
Back home I planted up the old kitchen sink
A wilderness no more!!
Alas today the sun is not shining so the cerise flowers on Delosperma are tight shut! the Helianthamum now has lots of white flowers open, the other plants will fill out over time I will just have to watch the foxgloves don’t find their way back!
Here is my favourite view….saved the best until last!!

Fantastic views Neellan. Absolutely love the bluebells. The Heucheras look good placed like that, and your sink will look great as it establishes. Lovely garden centre too.

What a lovely garden centre, I,ve nominated the heuchera tower for goypedia, I think its a brilliant way of displaying them. I bought firechief on sunday with obsidian.....I,m really hooked!
That sink looks good now with the new plants, hopefully we'll get some more sun to show them off.
Good photos of the bluebells, they look so nice with the gorse, I can see why its your favorite view

I have been buying a few heucheras, but find they are so expensive, up to £14.99 for the larger ones, I have bought a few on ebay that I have been pleased with, I don't mind the smaller ones as they seem to grow quite quickly.

Aw thank you Gee, I hope you have a nice holiday with lots of lovely garden centre visits! and I'm sure you will make a lovely job of your sink on your return :o)
Thank you Cinderella the Huechera Pyramid was very effective, I try to drive by to see the bluebells every year,
fingers crossed the sink plants will do well :o)
Thank you Pam and for adding the Pyramid to Goypedia the owner will be pleased! I asked if he would mind and told him it would be on the website, their other good idea was a stand to show plants featured at Chelsea.
My sink is certainly an improvement on it's previous state!
The bluebells are fantastic would have loved to have got closer but they are on private farmland. :o)
Thank you Lizziebee There are so many beautiful shades of Huecheras now one is spoilt for choice :o)

Enjoyed your blog, Neellan, sounds like a lovely day out. I also was pleased to see your sink as I have just acquired one but have yet to put anything in it! I will be scouring GoY for tips in the near future. I am just off for a few days holiday with my daughter and granddaughter so hopefully we will see some garden centres/nurseries along the way - I have made a note of your plant choices :)
