Ruthin Castle

One of the groups I belong to arranged a visit to Ruthin Castle recently we had a delicious cream tea followed by a guided tour of the castle and grounds.
Here are some of the views of the castle and grounds, sadly I didn’t take a picture of the cream tea!
The Castle was built in 1826 on the site of a 13th century castle.
One of the lovely peacocks strutting it’s stuff!
The Topiary garden with the 13th century castle walls as a backdrop
A view over the Welsh countryside from the walls
The walls are now covered in Valerian – pretty.
An arch in the walls…..can you spot the hearing dog who ran down the steps in front of me!
Spiral steps leading down to the dungeon – we didn’t venture down there!
The Foyer with impressive chandelier, a warm welcome awaits!
Hope you enjoyed the short tour.

Yes, I like Valerian best when it seeds in nooks and crannies. Lovely that the old castle walls are still there as well as the later castle.
Lovely blog missing just one thing...............
Yes, a picture of the cream tea!! You'll just have to have another one in order to get a picture...any excuse!

Well, I'm sorry to have missed the cream tea! I did spot the hearing dog charging down the steps - he was obviously on a mission. It looks a beautiful place and I love the topiary - it always fascinates me :)
