Last day holiday blues....

Last day on my holiday today and taken a chance to have. A wander through the woods with my family. We found a pond and the wildlife is beautiful.

We took a chance to recreate a photo with the same boys 5 years apart. My son charlie is the second from the left.

It's funny because I come here every year camping with my family but it's the first time I've really taken time
To look about properly

How nice that you all go together. Where is it?
It's probably your latest interest in the garden that you see things differently now.

What handsome boys NAT! btw, I prefer your new hair colour...pink was nice, but I think this suits you even better. :)

Agree! The red haired one on the left has grown up into a good looker hasn't he! Charlie is gorgeous and looks a bundle of mischief!
Its really nice to hear you took time to look around at the wild plants etc. You've opened a door that should give you lifelong pleasure.

Don't forget to have photos printed so that one day you can present the offspring with an album of Memories. I have done this but some of our earlier images are not that good as the fashion then was for "slides"!
Some of the firms online produce really lovely albums of one's images and offer good deals, especially around Christmas time. We interspersed photos of the children with images of plants.
Love the idea of changing hair colour. Is one too old at 100+?

The photo's are a great record, not that the boys probably approved, but they will look back on it later fondly. It's super just wandering and seeing what's about, teaching the boys that they don't need to be constantly on a tech gadget to enjoy life! (Best of luck with that one!)
Your holiday might be over, but you have all that gardening to look forward to now you have the bug.

You're never too old to do anything Eirlys! I told my daughter I was going to grow old disgracfully, eat all the things I wasn't supposed to, not eat the things that I didn't like just because they were good for me and not be polite to people if they were rude to me!

Ok lovelies....no such thing as to old. I've just died my fabulous 70 year old mums hair rose gold and it looks marvellous. Now my son towers above me alongside his cousins including my 9 year old nephew who's also catching me up quick I decided that they were going to humour me at the grand old of 44 and come out walking in the woods. To be fair to them they left their phones behind and admitted they actually quite enjoyed just being outdoors. All of them mesmerised by the pond skaters and Max (ginger hair, far left) found a fresh water muscle and was over the moon. Ranging between 9 and 18 I was a little bit chuffed that secretly they enjoyed themselves !

As for growing old disgracefully - to flippin right ! Do it all and regret nothing :)

And thank you Karen - it's nearly washed out now but as I have a real job to go back to on Tuesday that's probably a good thing lol

I'll have to google that, NAT, as don't know it.
I like to have my nails done regularly as you can see in my avatar & about 2 months ago my hair was raspberry, mauve & pink, I'm retired years ago so go for it, Erlys, do something different & make the gardener look up.

So glad you had a good holiday Nat. Must be nice to go as one big family. Love the now and then photo. Well done for getting teenagers not only to go for a walk but to leave their gadget lol. As for growing old with grace, no thank you, I'm with you all :-).

It was lovely thanks Jen

I love walking in woods. the purple flower is Burdock and the roots are /were used to make the cordial and then the pop dandelion and burdock. the seed heads have hooks on them and cling to the fur /trousers of any leg that brushes against them. I once grew some at home and the roots were a nightmare to remove. good looking group of escorts you had on the day :o) well done on no phones too :o)

Not a bad looking bunch of young me are they....I could do a lot worse lol

Nat : They're a handsome lot!

Had to laugh at all the encouragement from Honeysuckle, Nat, Green fingers, Jen. Needed that. Went to the Bank this morning and a middle-aged battleaxe there chatted away to a customer/friend and kept me waiting ages, deliberately, I thought. I felt invisible! The desk person was lovely, fortunately! (Does one disappear after a certain age?) :O)

Who said that ????

;) x

(Nat: My foster sister actually. She is convinced "we" disappear after a certain age. I used to laugh at her, until today!
Have recovered my sense of humour this evening.)

Love walking in the woods and of course, the New Forest is not far away. Some of the trees there are very, very old. It's a wonder they are still standing.

There's a Yew Forest not far from Salisbury that's a bit spooky. We saw it on a drizzly day and it really added to the atmosphere. Bet your "happy wanderers " would have loved it!

They were surprisingly good about being dragged through a forest to be honest. Having been made to leave phones behind they actually looked about them and was quite surprised at how enormous nature is :)

What a great blog,Nat,and I love the before and after photo's of your family too..so glad you had a fab time together...looks like you didn't have to do any arm twisting either,to get them away from their gadgets ! lol...sorry to disappoint, but this' Golden Oldie',only has blonde highlights..but I did have a gel ,which you could comb through your hair, and mine was a pink one.I loved it,in my Rock and Roll days.along with the clothes to go with it ! No wonder Elvis left the building ! Lol

Thank you. We had such a lovely time. The boys were great company and when they found the fresh water muscle they were blown away....told them if they looked up more often they'd be surprised at what they saw :)

Glad I discovered you. The tree is magnificent + the photo.
Isn't that fun, the boys? I like Mr. Red shirt, all smiles.
