Unfortunately not Sandra. I am not allowed another dog by she who must be obeyed as she considers them a tie. This is my brothers little ratbag and a wonderful little ratbag he is too.
Thank you Irish and of course you too Sandra.

Toto, I can well understand she who must be obeyed in your household considering dogs a tie. I have said that we will not get another dog after Casper, but I am only he who wears the trousers 'coz she who must be obeyed in my household says I can, it may not be too long before we get another, but I think it will only be a small dog again not a large one like Casper was.

What a lovely fellow. Is he waiting for a cuppa?
Dogs can be a tie if you are planning on travelling a lot or being away from home all day, everyday. But then again, if you start young you can train them to adapt to all kinds of situations and take them along with you all over the place. Especially if the doggie isn't very big.

Otto is cute !
Bobg ~ it seems like you definitely have room for a small dog, though you obviously still miss wonderful Casper.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Otto is a about 16 months old I think Morgana.
I actually think that Jean is right in our case as we both work and I don't think that it would be fair to a dog to lock it in the house all day on it's own.
It was ok when we had our previous dogs because our daughters lived at home and my mother in law who was a wonderful lady would drop in some days as well. When we went on holidays we would always have someone to stay at our house to look after them.

Hello Otto....How nice to see you again........

30 Aug, 2009

He's a lovely little character Clarice. I know you've seen him before Milky and hope you'll forgive me for posting his pic again but Morgana asked to see him.

Yes I suppose you are right Toto and I think now I have retired I may like to have another dog, a small one like the yorkshire terrier we used to have before Casper.
Hi Tt yes we do still miss her and we will get another dog, I know this in my heart because I miss having a dog around.

Thanks Gee.

He is lovely! How could you call him a 'ratbag'??

My son is just as bad - he calls Henry a 'Mutt'...just to wind me up...Henry adores him!!

Nice little dog. Toto is right about not leaving a dog all day in the home alone bacause dogs are a pack animal and need to have company. They can be destructive if left alone too long. We thought about having a rescue greyhound at one point but realised our lifestyle wasn't right for a dog.

Hahaha...and I thought I was the only unfortunate who was dubbed "she who must be obeyed". My husband loves that programme. I know it's ages old and Leo is no longer with us...but it runs on Public Broadcasting over here. Dog's don't need to be a tie...you can get them used to travel while small and they become excellent companions. Now if you're partial to a Mastif or a Great Dane...it may be a different kettle of fish...but little Otto (as in Count Otto von?) looks like a reasonable sized little "rat bag"...lol.

My thanks to you all, Lindak, Spritz and Lori. I would love to have another dog but, being as soft as I am the dog must come first and I don't think it would be right to leave him/her for long periods without company.
