It only lasted for the one season, lucky I had my camera. A chap I met there said he'd not long returned from Flanders, he said there were hardly any poppies there.

Hadnall on the A49 between Whitchurch and Shrewsbury Pipsqueak. Not far from there is a Garden Centre/Tea room, where they specialise in Roses. I thoroughly recommend it.

Oh well if they specialise in roses I am definitely going. Thank you Heron

You'll enjoy the visit as it's not like an ordinary GC in that you feel like you're in the grounds of a nice big house.

Lovely picxture. The poppies seem to have bloomed in a lot of places this year. We've had them in the fields at Belper and my sister at Suffolk.

I heard on Gardeners Question Time this week that they are flowers of disturbed ground, so that accounts for those on mine too:-)

I read once that the seeds have been known to lie dormant for up to a hundred years before being disturbed and flowering again.... this is so very beautiful, I wish the countryside was full of more of this!
