never thought of that Ray/Jane. I thought they were males that maybe hadnt found a mate :-(

Well our two males keep coming to the pond to loook for the female but she stays hidden in the nest ! She only comes off her eggs once a day for quick wash and brush up....then back on to eggs !

Dont they mate for life then Ray, or do they have more than one mate.

I just LOVE your water feature. Where did you get the circular pig trough from? I just spent 2 hours looking online and came up with nothing in the US. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'm glad you like it Lizzy , my husband bought this pig trough years ago, he spotted it in a yard where they repaired tractors , the owner said he could have it for £25 , a very good deal ,I have seen them for sale for a lot more than that , the only place you might see them for sale now is in a salvage /reclamation depots . they concentrate on buying up old stuff like this , I have seen the odd one in car boot sales but not for a long time , sorry I can't be more help I hope you manage to find one .. you might find one in a farm sale someone who is selling up all there farm machinery, goods etc. !
