Saxifraga - like little stars. (Saxifraga cortusifolia)

This is thriving in the shade...and it's so welcome at this time of year.

How lovely.....

very nice, I don't think I'll see flowers on mine this year as I've had to move them, but silver velvet in a pot has buds on it :-)

6 Oct, 2010

Silver Velvet? I don't know that one, G. I have another one very similar to this, plus 'Cherry Pie' and 'Blackberry & Apple' - can't see any buds on the others yet.

Please post a photo of yours, won't you!

It is like stars isn't it...reminds me of those lovely fireworks...and sparklers....ah, I can't wait for bonfire night! :)

Thanks...I love these autumn-flowering plants.

Karen, sorry to tell you - I can't stand fireworks since they gave them all explosive charges! Sparklers, fine. Far away in the sky, lovely. Close? No thanks, and they upset poor Henry, too - he runs around barking his head off in distress. I shall be worried about him this year. :-((

My Blackberry and apple has lots of buds on....

Hmmmm....Stop boasting! LOL.

it's on pge 1 #7 B, without the flowers :-)

7 Oct, 2010

I know what you mean B. I only mean the public display we have in town. I don't like people having them in their gardens at all. The public park is the place for them. Having looked again at this pic. I definitely think of a sparkler!

Being so rural, we don't really get a lot of fireworks here, thank goodness, and then (usually) only on one night, if someone has a party. The school in the village three quarters of a mile away holds a 'do' each year, but they're far enough away not to bother us. Back in Kent the fireworks went on from October well into November, plus Christmas, plus the New Year! I 'am' worried about Henry this year - I think I'll have a chat with the vet, as he's not supposed to get excited.

I think you're right about the 'sparkler flower,' though! :-))

7 Oct, 2010

Poor Henry. Hope it all goes peacefully...perhaps the vet will give you a gentle sedative just incase? We don't have that problem as you can imagine....taking Molly to a firework display is not a problem. She doesn't even seem to hear the bangs...isn't the slightest bit interested in the fireworks...just carries on in her usual annoying ways!

7 Oct, 2010

I don't think he can, Karen - remembering that he's already on phenobarb. :-((

I 'am' quite worried, though, but he has to see the vet for his annual jab soon, so I'll have a word.

Lucky you with Molly in this situation.

7 Oct, 2010

Yes, I can honestly say it is the one day of the year that she is less hassle than other dogs! :)

7 Oct, 2010

I can't blame poor Henry - he just doesn't understand the bangs and odd noises in such a normally quiet place. It's awful to watch him dashing round barking madly, all agitated, though. He won't stay still and stay with us. :-((

7 Oct, 2010

No of course not B. I was only being 'funny' about Molly. Henry is a lovely dog and I just wish I had a Henry that I could cuddle up with instead of a mad, licking, bouncing, growling at other dogs, ball of nervous energy......thing! I hope he will be ok. best wishes, Kx

I had that problem where I lived with Crosby, they went on for months, and left him a total wreck. Here is mostly only the one night and he's become much more tolerant thank goodness

8 Oct, 2010

Thanks, Karen - I didn't take it wrong, honest! xx Yes, he is cuddly! :-)

G - I'm pleased that Crosby can handle it. :-))

Ah, phew! ;)
