I think you know by now that I prefer these to the 'snapdragon' type of Antirrhinum. This one is a bit late flowering, but never mind.

They are, aren't they. The only downside to these ones is that they don't seem to seed themselves like 'Snapdragons' do.

t is very pretty is this a perennial Spritzhenry?

It's not supposed to be, Denise, but several of them came through last winter! I couldn't believe it. Strange, when I think of what didn't.

thanks Spritz

did you start this from seed or plugs?
6 Oct, 2010
Seeds - mind you, I had to buy two packets, as there were so few seeds in the first one! I might get some plugs next year - saves all the hassle, and I suspect they'd work out cheaper in the long run. :-)))

Lovely, i didn't know you could get a different kind. It's much nicer than the usual snapdragon and what a lovely colour too!

This is new to me Barbara ... another one to look out for , I like it !

I'm glad you agree - it's more like an orchid to look at. I think the colours are wonderful - they've ranged from white to dark red via cream, yellow, peach and pink.

gorgeous

Thanks. They were reasonably easy to grow from seed....

Thanks B

Came across them browsing ...I think it was Dobies....seed catalogue last night!

So - are you going to grow some, Karen? :-0))
7 Oct, 2010
Nope. I'm scaling down B. I'm going to stick to Clems, roses, geraniums and use them, along with the spring flowers, to give me colour. Herbaceous plants and annuals are going to be kept to a strict minimum...it just all gets too bitsy and messy for me. I need to move to a much bigger garden before I can really get into herbaceous stuff!! Then I'll have a proper cutting patch, and one lovely long herbaceous border with all those lovely flowers in...somewhere where I can't see it in the winter when it's all bare! LOL....I know in my heart I'll never have that garden B, and my next garden will probably be a lot smaller rather than bigger! To be honest, I think I really prefer small gardens in the japanese style...streamlined and simple with a few choice floral additions...but beautiful all year round!

Thanks, both. I'll be growing more next spring. I hope a few plants might come through the winter. Can't think how they do, but it happened last year! :-))

this is a stunner.

They all are, Sbg. I could just sit and gaze at any one of them. So much more attractive and unusual than 'snapdragons'! (I do like them, as well, and I grew some dwarf ones this year.)

Wow...gorgeous colour too!

I like the white one best, I think....or the apricot one....Oh, I don't know! I like ALL of them! LOL.
