Lexie - My Naughty Little Sister

I couldn't resist posting this pic of granddaughter Lexie taken the morning of her Book Day at school. They were to pick their fave book and come to school looking like the main character. I think her face says it all....Lol!

Lovely pic Janey. It only seems like last week when my two were dressing as book characters...Lol 18 & 16 now but we used to have fun with the dressing up on those days x

I worked as Nusery teacher years ago and this was one of the favourite stories with the children, and Lexi certainly looks the part!

Well captured :) Book day is often a challenge for moms and their kids...and the ideas they come up with are often really unique too.

I love your grandaughter's photo/pose, Janey.

This really made me laugh - it was a favourite with my twin daughters when their younger sister annoyed them!!
Lexi is a star :)

She looks the part Janey...lol

Oh Janey, Lexie is lovely. Did you both enjoy your recent birthday shopping.

Lol.....thanks for such a lot of great comments, she'll be amazed when she sees them....:o)) The stories are quite old as her Mum had the older edition when she was little, they are great stories with beautiful illustrations, no wonder your nursery children loved them Carole, and your twin daughters Gee!

I found the years from 18 onwards just flew by Annella...their mum will soon be 34, where all those years in between have gone, I've no idea!

We did Dawn, she knew exactly what she wanted and wouldn't waiver, so that was really easy, once her mind's made up, that's it....:o))

Lol, sweet!

Fab picture! She certainly looks the part doesn't she? What a lovely idea....my children didn't have this book that I can remember. Rachel was a fan of all the 'Mog' stories when she was small and then the Chronicles of Narnia, but I can't remember many others. Neither of mine were particularly in to reading, and yet they have both done ok, both at Uny now. We used to read to them every night, but neither of them took up reading to themselves....maybe when they are older they will.

Ahhh great pic...

Thanks girls....:o)) I don't remember the 'Mog' stories Karen, but Katherine loved the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Enid Blyton Happy House stories, with Jack, Jane and Bengy, she still has the books at hers now. I could still read them and enjoy those 50s style days....:o) Both Lexie and Chloe love their books, Lexie has loved all the 'Charlie and Lola' stories since she was tiny, and has to read every weekday night, as part of her homework....we never had homework at Juniors, really I think a whole day at school is enough at their age, but that's the way it is now.

I love it Janey Lexie is a star ,her face says it all , I don't see how these new Kindle things can ever replace a good book to curl yourself up with , plus a box of chocs of course :o))

i fancy one of those kindle-type ebooks ~ mainly cos they are easy to read in bed, some are back-lit and you can change the size of the font to make it easier?
havent made up my mind yet tho!

Let us know how you get on with it if you do get one Sticki , You might like to know that I was reading a right-up about them the other day and it said that the ones where you use your finger to swipe the screen to go to the next page are less easy to read ,but if you can change the size of the font that should be alright ...

8 Mar, 2011

i will let you know but havent decided yet.

I am absolutely useless with new technology, Sticki....our son-in-law got a Kindle recently and he loves it (has the light and I'm prety sure it has the swipe screen too).

If you do get a Kindle...I wish you a happy introduction to the gadget and many hours of reading pleasure :)

Haven't heard of the Kindle books, girls, are they for an Iphone? Sounds to be amazing new technology....like you Whist, I'm not much cop with it either, and enjoy the library too much....:o))

I agree Janey...much prefer the feel, smell and joy of looking inside the cover of a new book. Stick-in-the-muds we are eh? lol

Ooh, yes, such a thrill and I don't want to be permanently connected to plastic and metal....:o((

Janey... this is a super pic :o)

Thanks Tt! She's had a good laugh reading all the comments...:o)

I showed this to our daughter ... she has a degree in English and a Masters in Information Studies ... she advises to never stop reading! I remember the day she eventually moved out from our place ... the boxes of books to be carried were far too many! There's currently a list of the 100 most read books ... she has read 68 of them ... quite an achievement I think. : o ))

10 Mar, 2011

brilliant pic janey, she should be on the stage lol

How cute Lexie is. I am a teacher and it is thrilling to see kids excited about reading!

23 Mar, 2011

Remember the book well, great to see the younger generation enjoying a good read, all our grandchildren love books.

Sorry late getting back to this girls....surprising what you miss when you've had a few days away....:o(
Thats good advice from your daughter Shirley....she has done well getting through so many hasn't she?
I'll have to see what this Kindle is all about Hb, still haven't got the gist of it yet, but anything would be better than trying to read a hard-backed library book snuggled up....Lol! We have a bedstead too, so no leaning your head back to read....I wonder whose idea that was....:o)
She is a real joker San, and comes out with some real corkers, especially different accents...Lol
Thanks RbtP....haven't seen you on here for a while....
It seems to have been a popular book Dd, yes I'm pleased that they love their reads....:o)
